Default Bravo Carl Levin

Finally, someone in Congress is brave enough to stand up to the irresponsible weasels in the White House.

Yeah, that's why I vote for the old guy. I completely disagree with him on the timetable for Iraq thing, but he does follow his conscience and he's pretty knowledgable.
I almost had the opportunity to bring up some concerns I had about that policy to get his response, but all of the Senator's time was wasted by a bunch of @$$holes from some PAC that were asking one-sided anti-Bush questions for publicity. You could tell the Senator was losing patience with them and the prof who was emceeing the event nearly blew his top.
%$#%@%@ PAC @$$holes!
That's why you never see political figures answering real questions.

You're the only person I know who applauds a U.S. Senator using BLACKMAIL.

You did notice, didn't you....that many other Democrats including some of Clinton's former administration....as well as the two heads of the 9/11 Commission...... are pleading with Levin to stop this and let the man be confirmed....because he is needed.

Shame on Levin.

possibly dubya values concealing the information requested by Congress more highly than this critical appointment.

it seems only disclosure of the information to the Congress will allow the nomination to proceed.

so, what is this regime hiding from the Congress that they fear will hurt them such that they supress the information at the cost of nomination delay?

While I agree this guy needs to be confirmed, responsibility for the delay is a two-way street. Bush could get the vote immediately if he provided the info Levin wants.

When you're a minority member, this is about the only way you can exert leverage on the administration. Reserving such actions for "unimportant" nominations would destroy the reason for taking the action.

Deciding who's right is a pure judgement call. It turns on how important you consider the nomination, how important you consider the documents being sought and who you blame for the standoff.

Exactly. It's about time We the People found out where Bushie's priorities are.

Otherwise, if we let him continue to get away with his mad, insane, penchant for secrecy, and his total disregard for Congressional oversight, We the People will continue to allow the Congress to dig our graves for us.

Bravo Carl Levin.

....and of course who is in office. No way would Dems be supporting this kind of blackmail action from a Republican against a Democrat president. No matter what his/her reasons were.

I'm usually lumped in with the Crats and I would be fine with Pubs using the same tactics. I expect the minority to fight hard for its causes. I might not be sympathetic to the cause of whatever a Republican would be shooting for, but I have nothing against the tactic. Bargains are how we come to compromises and its how the minority fights for its constituents. Would you prefer a system where the minority just stays home and lets the majority do whatever it wants? What would we be paying them for?
