Madonna, who is my least favorite woman entertainer (even below Cher), may, for once, have tasted a bit of justice. She has, as I showed in a link in another thread, been touring the world mocking the Crucifixion- even in Rome. Well, in Moscow, Christian protestors have forced delay and possible cancellation of her concert there. What I particularly like about this is how it is an example of ethical lines being drawn without government censorship, which I almost always oppose. By the way, for those who think that Madonna is a defender of civil liberties, here is an example of her arrogance and hypocrisy:

Reports also said authorities objected to (Madonna's) organizers' demands that students in nearby dorms be forced to keep their windows shut in order not to see the concert for free.

Madonna is not truly a follower of Judaism. She is simply part of a "religious trend" that isn't real religion at all. Boy George (George O'Dowd) summed her up best:

Yeah, at least she has self-marketing talent. The "stars" of today and tomorrow don't even do that. They just get on game shows and let judges and people stupid enough to call in to pick them as stars rather than actually selling themselves on the market. At least in Madonna's day, they had to write songs or find talented writers. Now no one cares about songs. It's all about superficial talent: voice, looks.
As much as Madonna sucks and Moscow did exercise an interesting non-governmental censorship feat (I'm ambivalent- but her words about the windows incline me to feel she deserved it even though I hate such populist censorship stuff most of the time), the stars of today and tomorrow suck infinitely more.

What makes me particularly dislike Madonna is her constant use of blasphemy. Sadly, many singers use indecency to sell albums and tickets, but Madonna always makes a point to profane the sacred. For example, her sickening "breakthrough" at that MTV awards show. Okay, she was singing, "Like a Virgin", a tasteless song to begin with, and she was marketing herself in an exploitive way- but that is all par for the course in the unprincipled entertainment industry. But why did she have to profane Holy Matrimony by wearing a wedding dress? I also don't buy the idea that she is a true civil libertarian. Just look at that matter about the windows. I'll bet Howard Stern would try to violate others' property rights to prevent anyone from getting free access to anything of his as well. These people don't stand for freedom. They stand for their own pocket books- nothing more. They are slime, and it's about time the civilized world recognized this. I agree, by the way, that this decade's "musical" stars are utterly without merit. I could go on a ten page rant about it, but don't worry, I won't.
