Who doesn't want to fight terrorists?
I think you mistakenly think that liberals don't want to fight terrorists. Liberals are all for fighting terrorists. Liberals are against starting wars with countries using terrorism CLAIMS when they are unsubstaniated. Yet at the same time not attacking real terrorist camps. Liberals are also against acting like animals to try to catch the animals. But that doesn't mean liberals don't want to catch these guys. We just want to ensure we don't become like them in the process. |

I saw an official of the Saudi government on CNN yesterday saying
1. The terrorists main aims were to damage the national economy and attack the (Saudi) Royal Family. 2. That this group of attackers was the last of 6 cells of terrorists in Saudi Arabia and that thus all the terrorists had now been dwelt with. What was worse was that this clown was apparently saying this with a straight face. The fact that the terrorists were obviously targeting Westerners and that new terror cells keep popping out of the sand dunes in Saudi Arabia seemed to have escaped him. Coupled with the fact that they (supposedly) slipped up and let 3 out of 4 remaining terrorists escape from a one block radius residential compound as they conducted a roof-down assault and after they spent hours letting the terrorists kill over a dozen people, the Saudi authorities do not fill me with confidence. Fighting terrorists my a--! |

Last? No way, latest is more likely. There will be more recruiting and if Al-Quiada are removed, someone else will step in. More over, Saudi Arabia have a special religious role in Islam and should be void of foreign forces.
Behaving like a terrorist while fighting terrorism and then at the same time ignoring the social problems that creates terrorism is like cleaning wounds with manure.

No matter what, I want to understand terrorism. i think everyone should. In order to beat terrorism we are going to have to understand them and why they fight. If we want to win, we have to address the bigger issues. Attacking the terrorists who fight against us is just like putting a band-aid over a gaping wound. There are bigger problems to address.

This may sound simple, but I think part of the problem is they have nothing better to do. we are comfortable in our western lives b/c we have creature comforts. When we want something, we get instant gratification. We are dulled by our cinsumer/materialistic culture. They don't have what we have, and I think that makes them angry and it is supported by their religious zeal.

Religious zeal spawned them and trained them and I suspect thats all they are good at. Of course that's just the way I see it. |
