Its time, Barn, for your spinach-bath; you know how you get if miss your regular 'dunk in the spinachwater' - I dont want another episode like last week when you chased the nurses with the 'Sword of Righteous Vengeance of the Lord' for 'giggling unpatriotically' ....

...there there.....spinach is your friend....

Default Civility

There is a lack of civility of late. In politics, in particular, people have become so polemic and so partisan that there is no place for argument anymore. The opposing party has become “the enemy.” One cannot even agree to disagree for there is no tolerance for opposing views. It is a sad state of affairs when people can no longer even talk to each other without coming to blows. But perhaps it has always been that way. One of Octavian’s first acts as Triumvir was to add his friend, and mentor, Cicero to the proscription lists to appease Antony, who had Cicero’s head and hands mounted on the Senate Rostra in the Forum Romanum. (A high price to pay for his Philippics!) And, in our own history, Alexander Hamilton might have lived to be President had he been more civil in his dealings with Aaron Burr.

Kaladrew has behaved precisely as Duh2 stated. Factually he is correct.

Default Tis the season

to be nasty, I guess.. Look across the country. The rhetoric has increased, people are being accused "falsely" of doing things they never have and why? All because of POWER..

Its no different on this forum. Yes, people are tough and sometimes take it too far with the "personal insults" by name calling etc...but as stated above , its a contact sport.

It was this way in 2004 (look at some of the "heated debates on the forum) and its gotten a tad higher this year.

If the DEMS regain Congress, expect it to be even worse for the 2008 Prez election..UNLESS..UNLESS..somehow, the Dems in Congress can prove to everyone that they can appeal to the CENTER and not to the fringe on the extreme left... If the tone in WASHINGTON is ramped down, it will spread across the nation.. And if it spreads across the nation, then it will surely spread on this forum..

One can hope, right?

Default Alexander's ragtime quote

Message boards are plentiful on the net but those willing to remain rigidly bipartisan are rare, and those with large active memberships are few.

Even mentioning that you believe in God is enough to get you banned from several message boards. I was invited to one as its #2 member and within 45 days was banned for refusal to accept rigid religious doctrine espoused by a Catholic-hating board owner. Despite his claim, Catholics are in fact Christians.

Religion and politics combined means heated arguments, thoughtless accusations, and relentless animosity.

There is a reason God gave mankind organized religion. It gives structure to our deepest desires and darkest fears. Now the internet and political message boards merely make it easier to get angrier. As Bell said: what hath God wrought?
