Default SOME SAY THEY WANT TO QUIT

12th you expressed a thought about quiting since this forum has gotten nasty and little substance is discussed.

Is this post by Fife one that fosters and invites intelligent discourse or is it as some of us would say 'Righty-ish ' ( based on the antics of a far out poster)

This is actaully mild but does it foster intelligent discourse ? Is this the writing of an adult ?

Well..

1. The election was that far away.

2. Democrats have lost a Senate seat before it even came to an election.

3. They are losers.

..and it was in response to some of the usual stuff from Ixtellor and Sceptic-f

Its in the context of the thread and the thread responders. It not like hes whining about JP5 constantly like someone..

So whats your problem?

If it's an effort to keep clear thinkers and smart posters from leaving...I welcome the thread.

Maybe its just heat from the election or something...it might cool down after everyone has a fit about the Repub's keeping both houses.

OOOOOOhhhhh....snuck that in....hehehe....it could happen...

Default Well,

Fife tends to be "Fife"... meaning he's in character more often than not, these days. When he is, I don't think it's up to moderators to defend him (or others, for that matter), or translate what they really meant.

Whether it's Fife, a left leaning poster or myself, we're all big boys and girls (or we should be), and it's up to each of us to stand behind our own posts.

I like 12th and I think she generally does a good job. But we all have to stand on our own two feet around here. I don't think it's any nastier here now than it was a couple of years ago. It's just that the tide has shifted a bit recently, and the neocons have been on the defensive more than they have been since I've been here. He who smelt it, likely dealt it.

Sometimes ya just gotta man up and admit that you cut the cheese. It's all just go team! and cheerleader talk around here anyway. I just laugh it off and keep stepping. Nothing is accomplished. No problems are solved here.

Default it's of little matter

"Fife tends to be "Fife"... meaning he's in character more often than not, these days."

12thman is upset because people are "disrespectful" to Barney - grow up is all I can say.

Who is he compared to the rest of us? And why should someone go over the edge to defend him in such an immature way?

His post was just bad. He deserved everything he got and it wasn't even that bad.

Default ?

From my view, partisanship is hampering the discourse in this forum. So many posters seem like they're rooting for their brother in a duel when in fact, most of us know that most politicians represent special interests and not our interests.

CNN) -- Just weeks before crucial midterm elections, a new poll says nearly three quarters of Americans see Congress as out of touch, much as they did in 1994, the last time the minority party took control of Capitol Hill.

Seventy-four percent of respondents to a new Opinion Research poll say Congress is generally out of touch with average Americans. That's up from 69 percent who agreed with that view in a January poll this year.

In 1994, 75 percent of respondents to a CNN poll also said Congress was out of touch.
We should spend less time on partisan sarcasm and more time on focusing on how corrupt the system is, both sides of the Republocrats.

Default Fife

Fife makes brilliant posts. Fife doesn't give a rat's rear end if their brilliance is appreciated or not. Fife will continue making brilliant posts, born from a superior brain, and long years of being a vital part of the superior specie (Republican). 12th is free to continue being a part of this community or not. That is her choice. I, for one, like 12th. She and I have communicated on other non-political related subjects. My only regret is she is an Aggie.

I suppose I am only bewildered as to how I somehow have something to do with 12th's decision.

Default PS

I regret to inform demos that the election is still three weeks away, and they have, in fact, already lost a senate seat in Connecticut.

Like this is news to anyone?

LO, I think that you hit it on the head "I don't think it's up to moderators to defend him (or others, for that matter), or translate what they really meant."

That should go for anyone and everyone. We all should live or die by our own posts. If we uncork a stinker the smell will tell. If we try to use an extreme esoteric explanation or defense we will lose many people before we hit submit.

A moderator should not be defending a poster and if a moderator defends a poster just because that moderator is in ideological alignment with the poster that is double bad. That is a general statement I am not pointing any fingers.

Default Democrats will not have is the name Democrat on Joe's seat.

I am from Connecticut and I support and am a volunteer for Senator Lieberman. Joe has promised caucus with the Democrats so the Democrats will have his vote just about as often as they now.

What the Democrats will not have is the name Democrat on Joe's seat. It's like having a divorce with your wife, you live apart but you still get together and engage in sex most of the time.
