GOP outreach to blacks, Latinos in danger of collapsing

But now some of the leaders who helped Bush win in 2004 are revisiting their loyalty to the Republican Party and, in some cases, abandoning it.

This has been a major and, I believe, sincere push by Ken Mehlman at the RNC, with some help from the White House. But he's been frustrated by members of his own party, particularly by the border-fence bill.

That seems strange.....considering Democrats claim to be for securing the borders too. So why is it the blacks and latinos would hold that against only Republicans? And why are blacks even in that catergory....as they have nothing to do with illegal immigration. In fact, I've heard many of them on tv who seem to want the borders secured as well.

Puzzling.

And while Pres. Bush may not have been able to put all the money into his Faith-based initiative that he planned to (9/11, Katrina, Rita, and the war on terrorism came along), it's been pretty successful. And at least it's now legal for faith-based organizations to compete for the funds. Thanks to Pres. Bush.

Actually most of the money has been on the war in Iraq, probably could have used that half-billion that was lost or stolen.

Give us a breakdown which organizations are actually getting the funds.

The reason is that republicans and their consitutient have been more vocal and to a certain degree more extreme about border control than the democrats.

I think black America has blamed Bush for cutting afterschool funding, the fact he was the first presidentical candidate to shun out BET, and most of all Bush's ineptituted of how he handled the Katerina

President Bush has some good idea about faith-based funding and the No Child Left behind act but due to the war on Iraq most of those programs have been shut down. I'm guessing many of the ppl. who benefited from those programs are angry that it was shut down b/c of the unpopular war in Iraq
