Default Victory for Gay Couples -- Victory for Gay Rights

N.J. SUPREME COURT: SAME-SEX COUPLES 'MUST BE AFFORDED ON EQUAL TERMS THE SAME RIGHTS AND BENEFITS ENJOYED' BY MARRIED COUPLES.

Not marriage, mind you, but "same rights and benefits enjoyed by married couples."

A pretty darned good ruling if you ask me.

I guess JP5's defense of queerdom will now go out the window.

On no equal protection under the law? A GOP'ers worse nightmare; fairness and equality. After all if the law doesn't work for the GOP what good is it?

Default civil unions

The ruling applies only to civil unions, not marriage. Most Republicans do not object to a civil union between homosexuals being lawful.

Nice little omission of some critical little details, beagle.

Civil unions ain't marriage. Moreover, Republicans have no objection to keeping this decision at the State level.

As long as gays have equal rights, does it even matter what it's called? For all purposes under the law it's marriage. The only difference is semantics. Like calling something a cat or a feline. Whatever. Six of one, half dozen of the other.

The truth is most GOP'ers, including you Barney, hate homosexuals and are against gay "civil unions". Hell you think homosexuality is perverted and synonymous with using gerbils as you have stated.

Being a member of the GOP is about as low as you can get as a person. Supporting the Bush administration even makes you worse.

I don't consider you my country men. You are an evil that has infected America. I hope on day you pay for all of your transgressions, but it seems evil rules America these days.

I suppose from a religious perspective there would be a difference. They would not be recognized by the church as married. The Catholic Church does that with straight couples all the time. But since it's the government that actually determines whether you are legally married, not the church, there is no difference.
