A non-story? CBS News evidently doesn't think so. It was their lead story in tonight's newscast. They even ran the Lurch video of his insulting the troops, and a brilliant and very effective sound bite from John McCain, slamming Lurch for his comment. The conclusion from a CBS reporter was also good--he said Lurch's comment will certainly energize the Republican base in next week's election.

News Google "Kerry stuck in Iraq," and you will find how many other thousands of news outlets are covering and publicizing Lurch's comments.

But remain in denial if you wish. Cleopatra isn't the only Queen of da Nile.

It's not clear to me he was trying to be funny. He forces a slight smirk, but that's only after a few people in the audience cheer the remark.
