Circassians called Russian president to recognize Circassian people’s genocide

According to IА REGNUM correspondent, a number of the public associations of Adygeya, Karachaevo-Circassia and Kabardino-Balkaria adopted a reference to the president of Russia Vladimir Putin about recognition of the Circassian people’s genocide committed by Russia in the XVIII-XIX centuries. We shall remind, earlier the similar reference had been sent to the State Duma of Russian Federation, but the deputies rejected its consideration.

In the reference, delivered to the IА REGNUM Caucasian edition, it was spoken:

"On July 1st, 2005 Adegeya republican social movement "Circassian congress" sent to the State Duma of Russian Federation the Reference with the appendix of the archival materials concerning recognition of the genocide committed against the Adygeyan (Circassian) people by the Russian state c in the end of the XVIII prior to the beginning of the XX centuries. But the deputies of the Russian legislature refused to admit the fact of the genocide.

On October 11th, 2006 20 Adygeyan (Circassian) public organizations from 9 states sent the Reference to the European Parliament about recognition of the fact of the genocide of the Adygs (Circassians), committed by the Russian state.

Today outside the historical native land over 3 million descendants of the expelled aboriginals of the Northwest Caucasus - ethnic Adygs (Circassians) - live. The situation when the most part of our people is compelled to be outside the historical native land, contradicts the democratic course proclaimed by the Russian Federation.

We consider that today Russia is able to solve the Adygeyan (Circassian) question and for that purpose has all the necessary opportunities - both economic and legal ones. In our opinion, all is needed is the corresponding political will. Vladimir Vladimirovich! We call you as the guarantor of the Constitution of Russian Federation, the rights and freedoms of person and citizen, equality of all the peoples of Russian Federation, to consider widely our Reference and to promote the positive solving of the Adygeyan (Circassian) question".

The signatures under the reference to the Russian president belong to: the chairman of Adygeya republican social movement "Circassian congress" Murat Berzegov (Maykop); the chairman of "Adyghe Khase" of Adygesk town Aslan Tliap; the co-chairman of Adygeya republican public organization "Nafna" Asker Namitokov; chairman of Karachaevo-Circassian republican social movement "Circassian congress" Beslan Mahov; the chairman of the Regional social movement "Kabardian congress" Jury Shanibov; the chairman of Kabardino-Balkarian regional social movement "Circassian congress" Ruslan Keshev.
