i find it quite sad that this is actually news worthy. do the media really have nothing other to report other than regurgitate government press releases, and gossip on the private lives of politicians and their familys? whatever happened to investigative journalism?

Not profitable. Just take a look around this forum a bit. Lots of very newsworthy threads hanging around with only a handful of posts or less. Now take a look at this thread-- 10 pages of posts-- greatly beating every other recent thread.

Lesbians? That's hot.

Pregnant lesbians? That's scandalous.

Most newsworthy stories about politics are only controversial, but this story is also sexy, and that attracts a lot of people and a lot of $$$.

Default I do NOT believe that human ingenuity is "against nature".

raytri says
Quote:
Throwing out that which is "against Nature" necessarily requires throwing out thousands of years worth of human ingenuity.
I do NOT believe that human ingenuity is "against nature". Humans have shaped nature such as in agriculture when humans started to grow plants in neat rows and surpressed the propagation of weeds. Yet the plants still grew naturally in conjunction with nature in their neat rows shaped by human ingenuity.

What you do not see in nature are two pestals producing a fruit.

Plastics? Manmade elements? Synthetic fibers? There are plenty of things humans have come up with that do not occur in nature.

Default ...

As much fun as it may be to discuss the logical fallacies of comparing human society with nature... I think it's a diversion from the real reason nature arguments hold no water in moral issues.
There has been no threat greater to humanity than those set upon us by nature: drought, storms, predators, tribal instincts, meteors, poisons, disease, etc. Some are exacerbated by us... but overall nature's primary contribution: scarcity. It was the horrors of nature that made the foundations of civilization a good idea in the first place. We did it to stop nature from ^$#^#^ KILLING US!
Yeah sure we live within nature's bonds and whatnot. Nature defines what's possible. But nature's moral behavior toward us has been ambivalent.

Default deviation of natural bahavioral ?/

See the Raytri quote
Quote:

Those items that you mention are inventions and indeed products of human ingenuity just as open heart sugery is. Yet the "coupling of and the attempt to raise a child by same sex "partners" is not ingenuity it is a at best a variation in human behavior and at worst a deviation of natural bahavioral.
