Default Sec. of Defense Gates helped start Al-Qaeda?

Here is a very interesting article from:
http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/BRZ110A.html Read it all and tell me if you think SecDef Gates knew OSB?

Quote:
The CIA's Intervention in Afghanistan
Interview with Zbigniew Brzezinski,
President Jimmy Carter's National Security Adviser

Le Nouvel Observateur, Paris, 15-21 January 1998
Posted at globalresearch.ca 15 October 2001

Question: The former director of the CIA, Robert Gates, stated in his memoirs ["From the Shadows"], that American intelligence services began to aid the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan 6 months before the Soviet intervention. In this period you were the national security adviser to President Carter. You therefore played a role in this affair. Is that correct?

Brzezinski: Yes. According to the official version of history, CIA aid to the Mujahadeen began during 1980, that is to say, after the Soviet army invaded Afghanistan, 24 Dec 1979. But the reality, secretly guarded until now, is completely otherwise Indeed, it was July 3, 1979 that President Carter signed the first directive for secret aid to the opponents of the pro-Soviet regime in Kabul. And that very day, I wrote a note to the president in which I explained to him that in my opinion this aid was going to induce a Soviet military intervention.

Default combined with Reagan's push in Saudi Arabia.....

Bin Laden was born. Well documented that he names the U.S. military on sacred ground as a beginning of HIS war against America.

Was it worth stopping Russia from taking a land that we cannot defeat?

the "Domino Theory" proved to be another false theory and has cost millions of lives to stop.

Default True, but...

Yes, Osama was from Saudi Arabia, but he used the US-trained, Mujahadeen militants as the para-military component of his group, and the Muslim fund raising group Al-Qaeda as the organization to network with other fundamentalists throughout the Islamic World. Only when all three components came together did a quasi-international terrorist network develop.

It was in that same time period that the CIA and Gates would have been working with key Mujahadeen leaders to fight the Soviets. Did Gates ever meet OBL? The secret lies within the CIA.

Default .

What's somewhat ironic is that the entire "Axis if Evil", as well as OBL, all have roots in things we ourselves did.

Default just a spoonful of sugar...

What should be more interesting to students of world history is that Brezinski freely admits that he warned Carter that such US interference in destabilising a nation on the Soviet border would 'induce a Soviet intervention'...and he was right.

How the official version inverts truth, (and with such regularity).

I bet they dont sell that one (Brezinski's firsthand knowledge) to your kids in their history classes, with a popsicle...

Default yes, Bin laden wanted our help

and he was against our being there.

he's very bipolar.

I think when they find Osama they'll have to kill him otherwise he becomes a beacon for suicides and he might talk if there is a trial.

eitherway, he's a martyr

not that I blame him for it. At the time supporting Afghanistan seemed like a good idea. It's quite easy for the arm chair quarterback's to govern given the perfect vision of hindsight.

What til the libs see "Charlie Wilson's War" starring Tom Hanks. I read the book and the libs are gonna be eating crow after they see that one. Once they see that one, we'll probably be hearing no more from the Dems on this particular subject of funding the Mujahadeen in the 80's. <g>

I don't blame us for supporting the mujahadeen against the Soviets; that was a good idea.

I blame us for abandoning them after they were no longer useful to us.
