Posters on this board know that I have long believed that the race-based caucuses should be condemned and done away with. Well, thank God, someone else in Congress agrees and is trying to do something about it. It seems that a white DEMOCRAT Congressman tried to get into the CBC because he represents mostly black constituents. Apparently, he wasn't welcome based on his race. And to think this kind of discrimination goes on right in Congress and by Democrats. Still question why we can't bring ourselves to refer to the DEMOCRAT party ad the Democratic party???? Here's your proof.
"Tancredo calls for prohibition of race-based caucuses Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo (R) on Thursday criticized the existence of race-based caucuses and called for their prohibition. "It is utterly hypocritical for Congress to extol the virtues of a color-blind society while officially sanctioning caucuses that are based solely on race — and restrict their membership based on race," Tancredo wrote in a letter to House Administration Committee Chairwoman Juanita Millender-McDonald (D-Calif.), who is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC)." "The Hill reported Jan. 4 that Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.), who is white and represents a district with a black majority, had abandoned his bid to join the CBC." http://www.thehill.com/thehill/expor.../tancredo.html

Congressmen can form any groups they want to. That they form one based on race, instead of organized around a certain principle, shows that they are looking for racial privileges - let them hang themselves.

I have said this before Blacks will never really azrrive into true citizenship as Americans until they start to behave like Americans who happen to be Black . That goes for every other group also!!!

I'm sure you would say the same thing if a group formed an all white caucus solely based on race. Please don't say"well whitey has been doin' it for 200 years". Two wrongs don't make a right.

i also recognize the naacp has no restrictions on membership and tancredo has not attempted to associate himself with that organization to better understand and represent the interests of his African-American constituents. wonder why he would not want to join an organization which would have his bigoted self. good on the black caucus to refuse to allow the infiltrator to worm into their group.

Tancredo is a fool. Freedom of association and assembly is still guaranteed under our Constitution.
