Pure refined 112% crapola. Eastwood has been a liberal for a long time. The main thesis of
Flags of our Fathers - that people on the homefront didn't understand the difficulties of war, was ridiculous - particularly the vehicle he used to portray this - a denigration of the crucial war bond drives.
If that movie was stupid,
Letters From Iwo Jima was sickening - an attempt to "humanize" a murderous, suicidal, war criminal enemy. And of course the liberal media "dug" it.
