Iglesias can't seem to make up his mind. First he says it was because he was in the National Guard, then it was the Wilson/Domenici phone calls, then back to the corruption investigation, now he's back to saying it was the phone calls.

If they really cared, they'd simply use the attorney firing scandal as the decisive piece of evidence for repealing that part of the Patriot Act and getting rid of at least one of this administrations power-grab extensions... then left it at that.
They'd also practice what they preach with lobbyists. At least on the Leadership level, the Crats have only proven that this should be their slogan: Democrats: We're the other Republican Party!

...that is unless you're a democrat.
The response from left wing on this forum is amazing. "look what they did to Clinton", "why propose anything that won't pass", "their hands are tied by the republicans". How is it you want politicians to be accountable, except your own? And for you exigent: There is should be common sense on what entails a witch hunt. It has been posted in length about all of Clinton's charges that they have either had to pay off or just sweep under the table that is triggering your partisan amnesia. It was not just a BJ, let's refresh your memory with the others he paid off to shut up, Paula Jones, Jennifer Flowers, Juanita Broadrick, not to forget to mention all that were convicted that had ties to the Clintons. You need to get real about what truth really is, because someone with a memory problem is hardly comparable to what the Clinton's have done.

with Clinton. Being liberal I have no problem with his sex life either. I would respect him more if he came out and admitted it. But what he was under scrutiny for was not heresay and payoffs, but was getting to admit that he lied, correct? How long did the investigation and everything last and at what total cost?

But they've moved on a lot of stuff. Their 100 hour legislation covered a fair bit of ground. Then they turned to passing the federal budget. Now they're debating the war appropriation. All while also oiling up the Congressional oversight mechanisms that the Republicans let atrophy. Not to mention the things that simply aren't going to happen with a Democrat majority: No more votes on ANWR drilling, gay marriage, flag burning, repealing the estate tax, etc. That's progress right there.

They should know by now that this manner of "witchhunt" is largely unpopular with the people. They should have learned from the Clinton scandal (to the surprise and disgust of many on the right, the people were largely irritated that we wasted so much time and money on such an obviously partisan adventure).

Oh, it could backfire big time. If they're too shrill about it, and especially if there turns out to be no there there.
I think there are enough questions to warrant an investigation. I think the Dems should be very careful about assuming guilt or otherwise letting atavistic bloodlust show.
