To be fair, the Dems have the deck stacked against them as far as getting much done, with thin majorities and a Republican president. Senate Republicans are already tying that chamber in knots, as is their right and bipartisan habit of the minority party.

What do expect them to do? Vote with the Democrats? Holding up legislation while you negotiate a tax break for those who have to pay for it is a good idea, IMO.

I'm not blaming the Republicans. I specifically noted that it is a bipartisan habit of the minority party. Dems did it when they were the minority (and Republicans savaged them for it). It's the way things work.

I'm not hanging anything on the Republicans. Just noting that the political realities weigh against the Dems being able to push through much major legislation. Do you disagree?
