McCain says he misspoke in upbeat Baghdad comments Fri Apr 6, 2007 5:19PM EDT By Ellen Wulfhorst NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. Senator John McCain said in an interview to be broadcast on Sunday he misspoke in his recent upbeat comments about security in Baghdad, where he traveled under heavy military protection. The Arizona senator, who is seeking the Republican presidential nomination, maintains progress has been made in the U.S.-led war in Iraq, according to comments to be aired on CBS' "60 Minutes." Excerpts were released on Friday. McCain said he regrets comments he made after a tour of Baghdad last Sunday, when he said he could see progress and the American people were not being told the "good news" about the war, according to excerpts of his comments and a press release provided by "60 Minutes." "Of course I am going to misspeak and I've done it on numerous occasions and I probably will do it in the future," said McCain, according to "60 Minutes". http://www.reuters.com/article/polit...6?feedType=RSS ---------------- But hey, it's still safe to stroll around bagdad... just don't forget to bring a hundred man security detail and air support.

How did he mispeak?
What did he mispeak on? Where is the part where he defines what he mispoke on? Why is that article devoid of such a simplistic foundation to its entire premise? I read the entire thing and it dances around....Only thing it has a definite on is the When... Tired of reporting thats half assed at best.....

Sorry- I dont get what you are saying here. Are you trying to say that you did not believe dems who said they liked McCain at the time? If that is what you are saying then, speaking for myself, he has lost his luster of strength and independence since he sidled up to Bush and the religious right. He appears desperate and deluded ,at this point.

Once they realized he was actually going to be a likely future President they turned on him. Thats what they do though..they use people then spits them out when they are no longer useful. Just ask Michael Moore. He became a liability for them so out the door he went. (article still sucks

*gasp* I agree with DuH2...whats the point of this article? I didn't really get it.
...but apparently I only agree on the part about the article. As for McCain, how have the dems spit him out and used him? It makes perfect sense that people would support a good leader (one who actually served in Vietnam) even if they don't agree with him on some issues, rather than an inarticulate, confused, and stubborn doofus. Once they realized he has cuddled up to said doofus for political support, they are going to drop him like radioactive waste. You find a way to blame everything on Democrats, but its pretty obvious that McCain's lack of support on the left is due to his recent support for Bush (a man who can't put words together to form sentences, much less run the world's only superpower.)

Love it when the Cons or Shrub followers
change the topic from McCain misspoked to the Left loved McCain? He's never going to be nominated for President, he's flipping more then pancakes at a fundraiser. But the question on hand is did the Left love McCain before or after Bushies Swiftboaters accused him of fathering a black baby? |

"McCain's Baghdad walk was a full-blown, bull-moose train wreck disaster of truly galactic proportions: a veritable Hindenberg of campaign photo-op debackles. It was so mind-bendingly ugly and deranged and disgusting that the once iconic "Dukakis in the tank" blunder now seems quaint by comparison.... One wonders if the Senator avoids facing himself in the mirror nowadays because he does not want to see the whore's face in the reflection."

Interestingly, a CBS blogger doesn't think the segment actually has McCain saying what the "60 Minutes" press release says he said:
http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2007/04...y2663288.shtml McCain was still wrong.
