Knowing them...give 'em a year, and they'll have not only caught up to us, but they'll have passed us by.

They ought to. After all, they always have it in the movies like they are the ultimate superpower of the world with all kinds of things in space (which I suppose is why aliens/demons/giant lizards find them such a great target). They best get working on it.

I don't know if I am just making unfounded generalizations, but the Japanese are a very smart and hard-working people.

Whenever I think of Japan I also think of Toyota and how that company has completely raped every other auto-maker on planet earth. If Japan wants to be a leader in space technology, theres no doubt in my mind they can do it.
