Thread: Authoritarian John Kerry Tells Media Not to Cover Tea Party

  1. Default Authoritarian John Kerry Tells Media Not to Cover Tea Party

It's scary that this man might have been President because his contempt for the First Amendment is downright un-American.

John Kerry, who by the way served in Vietnam, is telling the media that they have a "responsibility" to do a media blackout of all stories involving the Tea Party.

    What a tool.

I'm not sure how "don't give equal time" translates into "don't cover at all."

I'm gonna go out and assume you know the difference and just conclude that you're lying. Don't know why either, seeing as your own source proves you wrong.

Your link and your post don't seem to go with each other...

Kerry's actual comments for those who don't want to be bothered with the link are:

“And I have to tell you, I say this to you politely. The media in America has a bigger responsibility than it’s exercising today. The media has got to begin to not give equal time or equal balance to an absolutely absurd notion just because somebody asserts it or simply because somebody says something which everybody knows is not factual.

“It doesn’t deserve the same credit as a legitimate idea about what you do. And the problem is everything is put into this tit-for-tat equal battle and America is losing any sense of what’s real, of who’s accountable, of who is not accountable, of who’s real, who isn’t, who’s serious, who isn’t?”
He has a point. America like every country has some serious problems to sort out and too much time is being given to ridiculously trivial matters like birth certificates.

The criteria for a news story is that it is relevant to the news watching public. The Tea Party is relevant because it involves millions of people and has already upset the balance of power in Congress. If the media was to ignore them it would not be doing its job.

Way to fixate on a semantic point when the main issue is authoritarian fascist Kerry trying to tell the media who deserves coverage and who doesn't. He determines who deserves to be taken seriously, and who doesn't, I guess.

    That's the real issue.
Lol! Cry of the American Loon.

It's not semantics. There's a quantitive difference between the two.

How about Palin's almost continuous rants against the 'lame-stream media' and their coverage of her. Is that fascist?

It is chilling on free speech whenever a person in the United States government presumes to tell the media what to do.

If you liberals cared about the First Amendment as much as your wrong-headed agenda, you'd realize that.

I sincerely doubt the media cares what a politician says. They're going to do what they think what will give them the most ratings.
