Default ..and of course the phrase "Sovereignty handed over EARLY.."

..had never entered Karl Rove's mind for the fall campaign....???

I must admit though, the announced date would have attracted just about very loonie in the region....

Default What does that say?

Seriously? Are we admitting that we couldn't provide security even for a handover ceremony?

I thought the idea was to turn Iraq over to Iraqis once we had stabilized the place. Instead, we let terrorists force us to hand it over in the metaphorical dead of night?

Don't get me wrong; I'm not cheering that thought, I'm glad to see the handover, and I hope it succeeds. But I think we have to face up to what it means.

It does seem to fit in nicely with the NATO discussions currently going on in Turkey.

It was a Btilliant Move By the Iraqis and teh Coalition.
Its alloy easier to turn down a coalition down for help rather than turning down a sovereign Nation
And Btw. Iraq Does in fact have VETO power over ALL coalition Troops. get your facts straight liberals.

I remember watching the handover of Hong Kong many years ago and I am surprised that we didn't have a ceremony like that for iraq. I was certain that Bush was going to officiate in a public ceremony. After all, I was certain, since Bush keeps talking about the security of Iraq, that he would stand on a stage in the middle of Bagdad and officially hand over the country to the interim leaders. I guess he was too busy playing golf....
