Default Bush Diplomacy

President Bush's trip to the NATO summit meeting comes at a time of diminished diplomatic strength, in which his administration has been forced into compromises with international organizations and individual countries.

Bush faces international skepticism and domestic pressure from Americans who worry that the Iraq mission may be on the brink of failure, because allies remain reluctant to engage more with Iraq militarily but for their recent gesture to help train Iraqi soldiers. Last week, the United Nations also refused to extend the United States troops immunity from prosecution by the International Criminal Court. Other nations are now joining to resist U.S. unilateralism. Though BushCo denies that their diplomatic strength has been undercut, it's prompted the administration to adjust its tone. It may be too late after 3 1/2 years of U.S. foreign policy.

BTW, this is a very good political forum- smart people at this one.

Default Definite Links & Connections

I disagree as well. Pres. Bush could have chosen to just "coast along".....as Bill Clinton did during his presidency. But sometimes a real leader has to take the risk to do what he believes with all his heart is right. And many people backed him....and still back him on that. The polls still show a high percentage of people who think it was the right thing to do.

There was a link between al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein. No proof that Saddam was in on 9/11....but definite links to al Qaeda in general. Those links were listed in a Clinton administration 1998 indictment of bin Laden over the U.S. Embassy bombings. And former Defense Secretary for Clinton....William Cohen....testified under oath before the 9/11 commission that there were links. Even Sen Hillary Clinton spoke of al Qaeda and Iraq links.

It's like all of you Democrats and liberals now have amnesia or something!!

Well, I agree. Bush is obviously compromised being this close to an election. Europe and Al Qaeda are praying Kerry wins and don't want to deal with Bush with the hope that our Internationalist candidate Kerry wins and goes bootlicking to the UN.

And I guess diplomacy now is bad.? Compromising is only something evil conservatives do.? How about Bush & Co accomplished their task and now have some messes to mop up. This includes diplomacy and compromise.

Calling Bush a diplomat is like calling Whoopi Goldberg a "babe".

Default Right

JP5 once again is right. Bush did what he believes is right. Clinton's terms never faced any hard decisions and he would have just sat back.

Clinton never faced any hard decisions...you're kidding, right?

If there is one thing I respect about every president, it's their ability to handle dozens of "hard" decisions every day. In case you didn't know, being president isn't an easy job.

Before the invasion, the same polls you speak of showed that a MAJORITY of Americans believed that Saddam was in on the WTC attacks and that some of the hijackers were Iraqi. So you might wanna ask that "real" leader of yours what he was shoveling at the American public to get them to believe that.
Sometimes a "real" leader has no clue what to do and sits there with his thumb up his butt while the American people are being attacked.
As for you links, they are meaningless. Whether they are true or not is a moot point. It was Al Qaeda who attacked us not Iraq. With your reasoning we need to invade Sudan, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, North Korea, and a host of other countries that "might" have ties to a terrorist organization. Better fire up the draft.
You sir, mistake amnesia for common sense. Do yourself a favor and lookup "preemptive" in the dictionary.
Done and done.
