President Bush's trip to the NATO summit meeting comes at a time of diminished diplomatic strength, in which his administration has been forced into compromises with international organizations and individual countries.
Bush faces international skepticism and domestic pressure from Americans who worry that the Iraq mission may be on the brink of failure, because allies remain reluctant to engage more with Iraq militarily but for their recent gesture to help train Iraqi soldiers. Last week, the United Nations also refused to extend the United States troops immunity from prosecution by the International Criminal Court. Other nations are now joining to resist U.S. unilateralism. Though BushCo denies that their diplomatic strength has been undercut, it's prompted the administration to adjust its tone. It may be too late after 3 1/2 years of U.S. foreign policy. BTW, this is a very good political forum- smart people at this one. Come get a laugh at: http://www.dumpbush.bravehost.com |

Well, I agree. Bush is obviously compromised being this close to an election. Europe and Al Qaeda are praying Kerry wins and don't want to deal with Bush with the hope that our Internationalist candidate Kerry wins and goes bootlicking to the UN.
And I guess diplomacy now is bad.? Compromising is only something evil conservatives do.? How about Bush & Co accomplished their task and now have some messes to mop up. This includes diplomacy and compromise. |

Calling Bush a diplomat is like calling Whoopi Goldberg a "babe".

JP5 once again is right. Bush did what he believes is right. Clinton's terms never faced any hard decisions and he would have just sat back.

Clinton never faced any hard decisions...you're kidding, right?
If there is one thing I respect about every president, it's their ability to handle dozens of "hard" decisions every day. In case you didn't know, being president isn't an easy job.

Sometimes a "real" leader has no clue what to do and sits there with his thumb up his butt while the American people are being attacked. As for you links, they are meaningless. Whether they are true or not is a moot point. It was Al Qaeda who attacked us not Iraq. With your reasoning we need to invade Sudan, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, North Korea, and a host of other countries that "might" have ties to a terrorist organization. Better fire up the draft. You sir, mistake amnesia for common sense. Do yourself a favor and lookup "preemptive" in the dictionary. Done and done.
