Default .

As someone who lives in Atlanta I can say I'm tired of this case already. By the time it's over I'll never want to hear the name Vick again. My only observation so far is that we haven't come very far as a country when one's reaction to a crime depends solely on the race of the accused.

Default Senator Byrd,

Being of the side of neither party, Republican or Democrat, I will say this, It usually is not with what air a man speaks that I listen to, but rather the words that he says.

I once saw Senator Byrd speak out about 4 months ago about not letting bush have more absolute power over other political entities. He talked about checks and balances and why our forefathers saw such reasons to keep them there. and the tragedy of letting on single person in our government have superior power.

now republicans probably disagree for obvious reasons. but that would be an incorrect reasoning concerning the U.S. constitution.

Needless to say,I found his speech (Although humorously spoken with an air of political essence) to be an invaluable history lesson and to be right on target.

I think maybe even his air about his speaking led me to watch the entire speech, as with some other monotonous speaking politicians I would have given up and changed the channel.

That said I believe that if Senator Byrd ever retires it will be a great loss to our government, since he seems to understand well the importance of checks and balances within the government, as well as U.S history.

Sometimes it seems even our own president doesn't fully understand U.S. laws and constitutional foundations. Something all our politicians weather Republican, Democrat, or otherwise ought to have a firm grasp of.

As for the air in which he presents himself, Next to most boring speakers in our government. I find it a refreshing change from politics as usual

What evidence do you have that race is a factor? If this was Kurt Warner do you think this would be any smaller? What I have witnessed in my state (Washington) is the public and the media go nuts whenever there is clear evidence of animal abuse. Add the celebrity factor and this is front page for a long time.
