Well I'm going to disagree with you...

I don't agree with him on many hings but he is a (*)(*)(*)(*) good orator..probably one of the last of the old school types. Most politicians today sound like spoiled brats.

As for the issue he's addressing in that clip.... I agree with him.

Thats piece of human trash deserves to have his nuts cut off and be beaten to death with wet bamboo.

Since that will never happen I think that piece of garbage should have his name stricken from every NFL record. No mention of him in any capacity.

You just don't like him because he is a Demoncrat and not becasue he was KKK during the Ice Age. I never heard you rail against David Duke of and Earl of Southern Louseyanna.

Isn't the Byrd man suffering from some degenerative desease which has affected his ability to deliver oration ? Yet I agree with with the Duh that the Byrd MAN OF VEST WIRGINIA did have a point when it came to the treatment of dogs by a highly paid foolsball player.

Default Remarks by Senator Byrd ABOUT Reagan

JAYUS PEA READ THIS http://byrd.senate.gov/speeches/byrd...ne_list_0.html

Remarks by Senator Byrd

June 09, 2004

Remembering President Ronald W. Reagan

Mr. President, on Saturday, our Nation lost a good man and a great American, the fortieth president of the United States, Ronald Wilson Reagan.

A former sports announcer, actor, television performer, and governor, this man from a small mid-western town was eventually elected to our Nation's highest office, not once, but twice, in landslide victories. His was a success story, an American success story. He demonstrated that the key to the American Dream is still determination, hard work, and perseverance. He did it by appealing to our "best hopes," not "our worst fears."

Historians will study and evaluate the impact of the Reagan Administration – his role in ending the Cold War and the results of his domestic policies.

What is beyond debate was his uncanny ability to connect with the American people. He knew where he wanted to take the country and attempted to do it with remarkable determination and charm. He restored a much needed sense of optimism in America, and he did it with a cheerfulness that was absolutely contagious.

His optimism was prevalent and penetrating and inspiring even during the darkest moments of his Administration. With the Challenger explosion, we grieved and despaired, but when President Reagan spoke of how those courageous astronauts reached out and "touched the face of God," suddenly all of us realized that we, as a country, would make it through this grievous hour, and the American adventure into space would go on. He was truly the "great Communicator."

I came to know and work with Mr. Reagan from a unique and important perspective. I was the leader of the opposition party in the U.S. Senate during both of President Reagan's terms.

From this position, I came to understand and appreciate, probably even more than his strongest supporters, his hold on the American people, and the importance of the leadership that he provided.

In fact, I found him to be as charming in person as he was when speaking to an audience or appearing on television.

Never once did I hear him engage in personal attacks on his challengers.

When we disagreed, which was more often than naught, it was always in civil tones. He was always smiling, patting you on the back, asking you about your family, and wishing you the best. You simply could not help but like him. He seemed not to confuse differences of opinion with differences of ideals or values. After all, he liked to point out, "we are all Americans."

Default Dear Senator Byrd,

Dear Senator Byrd,

I do disaagree with you on many issues and find humor in many of the tactics you have used over the years. Yet I unlike certain hard core selfstyled Repubatubs have not to my memory made fun of any person who suffers from a degenerative desease yet continues with public service.

We unfortunately have on this Political Oponion Forum a person or persons who will denergrate any person not on priciple but soley on political opinion.

Well so be it!!!

Senator Byrd I have and will laugh at you when you play your fiddle during a debate but I will never laugh at you for any condition or desease which you have innocently acquired......

Default Sen Byrd Defends Himself "My Only Adversity is Age."

Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) Defends Himself on Senate Floor: "My Only Adversity is Age." On June 28, West Virginia Senator Robert Byrd responded to critics who have recently suggested that he may be too old for his job.

The 89-year-old Democrat is the longest serving senator in history. Commentators had recently pointed out that Byrd seems to be growing infirm, that his signature was shaky, and his attention often wandered.

Here's part of his reponse:

Mr. President, I feel compelled to address head on the news stories in recent weeks that have pointed out the shocking discovery that I am growing older. I find it no surprise, but then I have had some time to become accustomed to the increasing distance between the year of my birth and the current date. I may not like it, but as Maurice Chevalier put it, "Old age isn't so bad when you consider the alternative."

A recent Associated Press story ran in West Virginia's Charleston Daily Mail. The headline read, "Dramatic change in signature shows that age is catching up with Senator Byrd." The newspaper offered as proof the signatures on my Senate financial disclosure forms from last year and this year. It is true that this year's signature looks like I signed it in a moving car. Some days, the benign essential tremor that I have had for years now is worse than on other days – just as it is for the approximately 5 million other people in the United States who suffer from similar tremors. It is annoying, but hardly evidence that I am at death's door.

Nor should it come as a surprise that I use canes to help me get around, or that I am not always as fast as I once was. I am not aware of any requirement for physical dexterity in order to hold the office of U.S. Senator. The often grueling hours that work in the Senate requires are tough on far younger Senators, and I am no longer one of the younger Senators. But to worry in print that I have missed one vote this year? Really?! Out of more than 18,000 votes in my career, to miss one or two votes every now and then is surely excusable. Even old people can be allowed a sick day or two now and then, can't they?

That is really the crux of the matter here. In this internet-savvy, media-infused culture, we have forgotten that people get older. Even, dare I say it – old. Television is full of pretty, young people. The few white-haired heads that one sees on television are made up and glamorous. Off-camera, though, most bear little resemblance to their tv persona. In a culture of botox, wrinkle cream, and hair dye, we cannot imagine that becoming older is a good thing, an experience to look forward to and a state worthy of respect. If I were 50 years old, and used canes due to some injury, or had a disease-related tremor, the news stories would be about my carrying on despite my adversities. But my only adversity is age....

Abraham Lincoln once rightly observed that "…In the end, it's not the years of your life that count. It's the life in your years." My only adversity is age. It is not a bar to my usefulness as a Senator. I still look out for West Virginia. I still zealously guard the welfare of this nation and its Constitution. I still work, every day, to move the business of this nation forward, to end this reckless adventure in Iraq, and to protect, preserve, and defend the Constitution against those who would reshape it to suit partisan agenda. And I will continue to do this work until this old body gives out. Just don't expect that to be anytime soon.

I believe that all ages and all occupations should be part of a truly representative body. I also believe that society works best when the energy and idealism of youth pairs with the experience and wisdom of age. America is the land of opportunity. I don't think our some 36 million citizens over the age of 65 are disqualified from participating in the life of the country we helped to build. Our country rejected those kinds of arbitrary barriers long ago -- and this Senator loudly and proudly rejects them now.

Read the complete speech here.

Where did I say a word about his Parkinson's? Where did I mention any shaking?? You are MAKING that up....evidently because it's what YOU thought of; not me.

I was referring to how he goes on and on like he thinks he's a great orator. He doesn't make any sense most of the time. He's gotten TOO OLD to be in the Senate. JUST like Sen Strom Thurmond was TOO OLD to be in the Senate LONG before he gave it up. AND I said so at the time. There have been others too. They don't know when it's time to go and get off the stage.

Yes, I agree about the quarterback. But what place did that subject have on the Senate floor in the first place? It's a police matter......unlike many others that occur each and every day. And it will be handled by them. But for some reason Byrd felt like preaching a sermon about it on the Senate floor. He was preaching to the choir anyway....since I'm sure that 100% of the people in the country feel the same way.

And the voters should notify these Senators it is time to move on and they don't. We should have the brightest and the best in our Senate. Bird's slow incoherent ramblings have become mostly incomprehensible.
