How about we just make buggery by a priest a cpital offense ?

How exactly is "streaking" a sex crime? If that's the case, then a third of all baby boomers are probably criminals.

I think this overly-prudish nation has gone quite overboard with "sex crimes." What's gonna be next? Convicting men who make "wolf whistles" at hot women? "Blowing kisses" as sex crimes? Sheesh.

Agreed. There was a story on here a while back about a guy convicted of a "sex crime" for peeing in public. It kind of defeats the purpose of a sex offender registry when virtually anything lands someone on the list. Your neighbor could be on the list for raping a 12 year old, peeing in public or pinching some girl's butt in a bar. And it's most likely one of the last two, yet everyone will assume the first.

Default I'm gonna make Waynes head bleed for super fan #99 over here

Unfortunately in Arizona urinating in public was a sex crime so several had to register as an offender. This was 10 years ago so I don't know if it's changed.

That said, if you're running naked in public that's pretty much a sex crime. Unless you're at a nudist camp. Exposing yourself in front of kids generally is and should be a sex crime. I'm not sure not having kids present changes a lot.

FREDERICK, Colo. - A Catholic priest faces an indecent exposure charge after jogging in the nude about an hour before sunrise.

The Rev. Robert Whipkey told officers he had been running naked at a high school track and didn't think anyone would be around at that time of day, a police report said.

He told officers he sweats profusely if he wears clothing while jogging. "I know what I did was wrong," he said in the report.
If you want to consider that a "sex crime" I would say the definition is a bit liberal. But fine. Semantics. But have him register as a sex offender? I don't think so.

Yeah, that's a stretch.

That said, would a baggy pair of boxer shorts been too much to ask?

I also don't buy the fact that he "didn't know" that running naked in public was a no-no. That doesn't make him a sex offender, but (*)(*)(*)(*).

Apparently, he did it before sunrise, and it was on a track.

Granted, priests are getting really squeezed for all the deviant sex crimes, and multi-million dollar lawsuit settlements. However, I don't consider this a sex crime. Who is the victim? How was he/she victimized? I went to a private, parochial high school as a kid, and let me tell you...if this happened when I was in school...it would be the PRIEST who would be the victim (of massive ridicule by the students).

So now, this guy gets to live the rest of his life as a "sex offender," when a) he didn't think anyone was around, and b) he attempted to use the cover of darkness, and assumed no one could see. It's not like he streaked through a shopping mall at high noon.

A little too flimsy to me. Furthermore, it seems that no one gives a rat's ass about the consequences of what this will do to the priest. It's a witch hunt.

When you read the details it does change it a little. In this instance I'd probably agree that not a sex crime or worthy of registration. I assumed he was doing it on the street.

I don't think that what the Rev. 'Father' did is an actual sex crime but this priest should know better with all of the bad publicity from all of those homosexual Priests who are sex criminals.
