Default Some Dems Coming Around

What's up with these Dems? Trying to do some cya before the Petraeus report? Or are they just finally acknowledging that the voters want them to admit it?

Democrats praise military progress
By KIMBERLY HEFLING, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - One senator said U.S. troops are routing out al-Qaida in parts of Iraq. Another insisted President Bush's plan to increase troops has caused tactical momentum.

One even went so far on Wednesday as to say the argument could be made that U.S. troops are winning.

These are not Bush-backing GOP die-hards, but Democratic Sens. Dick Durbin, Bob Casey and Jack Reed. Even Sen. Carl Levin, chairman of the Senate Armed Services committee, said progress was being made by soldiers."

Default Durbin?

The same Dick Durbin that compared alleged abuse of prisoners by American troops to techniques used by the Nazis? Amazing. I listened to one of the Dem talking heads on an opinion show voicing the same thing. Must be a new talking points. There must be something awful good coming out in that report. But for one of them to suggest that we may be winning. That borders on heresy.

Default .

This is nothing but "damage control." I wouldn't read much into it. Commucrats are still invested in this country's failure, as long as a Demopublican is in the White House.

Default nazi-like techniques applied and gains being made in war

why would you assume that durbin could not hold both beliefs simultaneously?

Default cuz I said so

I agree that they are not mutually exclusive positions. However, I believe that quote is demonstrative of Durbin's openly hostile attitude towards our war efforts.

Default ...

Obviously if people see progress they will admit to it.
The question is still up whether this technique can yield further progress.
If you think a surge in troops is going to put the Iraqi government together and boost the economy, you're living in a dream world.
It stands to reason that soldiers can help bring rule of law to some areas... but they cannot make everything work. They can only make it easier for the Iraqis to do it.
