I feel this is a huge mistake and it is a huge infringement on our 2nd Amendment rights provided to us by the U.S. Constitution. You know, my father carried the M-1 Garand with him in the pacific during WW2 as well as Korea while he was in the U.S. Army infantry. The M-1 Garand and the Carbine most definitely saved his life as well as other soldiers lives and allowed them to come home from the war. Lucky for my father with some good ole horse trading got to bring his Army issue M-1 Garand and Carbine home with him and I now keep them safe in my gun cabinet. Now Obama quitly signing this ban is unwarranted. Obama's State Department stated that:

"there is a danger they might, possibly, one day “fall into the wrong hands.”

The M-1 Garand and Carbine played a very important role in our history and allowed us to be victorious during the war. It is a complete travesty to prevent Americans from their chance at owning these famous U.S. made iconic military weapons. Call your congressman on this issue and let your voice be heard on reversing this ban.

Rand Pauls letter on this issue:

This is obviously a falsified document; it can't possibly be from Rand Paul.

Seriously, could someone please cite the actual action the administration has taken here? Given the record, I can't say I would accept 'conservative red meat propaganda' as trustworthy on its face.

Has anyone actually bothered to read the letter?

Obama forbade the reimportation of nearly a million M1s on the grounds that "they might fall into the wrong hands", despite the facts that 1) the M1 isn't an "assault rifle" and 2) the sales would have been regulated the same way as any other rifle.

People may disagree with Sen. Paul on many points, but he's not a liar.

Ya know what is stupid about Obama's decision?

If the Koreans aren't allowed to sell the weapons in the US, they will sell them to someone else.

Now, I wonder if these guns will end up in the wrong hands...

    What a freaking dunce.

What's the big deal you ask?......These iconic military weapons are what brave patriotic U.S. soldiers used to kill Nazis in order to liberate Europe.....where you live.

    What did Obama sign?

I know using actual sources to actual actions, so we can read what actually happened, rather than Ron Paul's version seems like a very dramatic thing to demand....but why didn't Ron Paul give us all the facts?

    And why didn't you?

At this point, all I know is that Ron Paul is saying something happened. Do you know for a fact that it did? Or why?

And by the way- I like the M-1 and I have nothing against gun ownership whatsover. I just like real information.
It seems that the suck-ass lib news media missed this story.

Not surprising since the story does not involve sex.

But it was noticed by people who value their gun rights and now the story has reached these pages.

In a little-noticed decision in March, the Obama administration reversed an earlier decision and moved to block the importation of 857,470 lawful M1 semi-automatics which were being sold by South Korea in an effort to raise money for its military. According to Hillary Clinton’s State Department, this action was taken because the M1′s “could potentially be exploited… for illicit purposes.”
This coming from the gang of idiots who sold thousands of automatic weapons to the Mexican drug gangs.

Like I said, it's a stupid gun. 'Brave, patriotic' conscripts who had no choice.
Oh, and please spare us the 'we saved your ass' bullcrap. We've heard it all before...'you'd be speaking German if it wasn't for America...'
If it wasn't for Russia we may well have lost. Think about that for a moment before spouting faux patriotic, chest puffing rubbish.
