Default Feingold Amendment Fails in Senate

Democrat Senator Russ Feingold's Amendment to the Defense Spending bill on Iraq just failed in the Senate by a vote of 70-28.

The bill would have mandated that Iraq troops would be out of Iraq within 90 days of the bill passing AND that all funding for Iraq would be cut off by June 2008.

Those voting FOR the amendment included presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. I thought she said recently that she was for withdrawing "sensibly?" Apparently not.

Default I have not looked yet.

I have not had the chance to look yet, but if I were to guess I bet Harry Reid voted for it to right? The fact that these amendments are coming up is no surprise given Harry Reid vow of " no compromise" and I think it shows you what sort of person Hillary is. Isn't this the same party that just yesterday on the Senate floor that was so concerned with troop rotations? Yeah right!

Personally I think they All saw that 11% approval rating that MSNBC was touting last evening and decided they needed to do something about those poll numbers. So here we go , lets use the troops to make me look good thing.

Yes, Harry Reid is on the far left like Hillary. These stupid Amendments are all about trying to satisfy their MoveOn.org base. They are pretty much controlled by that group now.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever read. Moveon.org shot itself in the face last week, they did not consolidate their "power" *snark*, which is why your qualification that now Moveon.org controlls them is twice as stupid as it first looked.

Yes. These amendments and resolutions are stupid. Shocker.

Default I'll bet

I'll bet that Moveon.org had its best week
yet in new members and total money coming
in. You true blue right wing Chucklenuts
followers don't quite get it. AMERICA is
sick of this useless war. so you 18% people
try and sway things on a positive, but if it
doesn't end soon try will be Marches and riots
just like the 60's-70's. It's started already. We
can't afford this war, with lives or money, which
is almost not worththe paper it's printed on.
I Sure hope God will Bless the USA. we do
need it

Default Who cares, JP5

The democrats already have the power to block funding for the Iraq War, if they had the political will to do so. They do not do so because they are afraid of being labelled unpatriotic people who are betraying America's fighting men and women in service. Because of this cowardice, they dink around with tactics like the Feingold amendment which they know won't get passed but which hopefully will get them some positive press.

If you disapprove of the Democrats, you should either ignore these publicity stunts or address them solely as the lame ducks they are. That is actually more embarassing to the Dems than attacking their party position on the War (whatever the .... that is).

If the USA cannot afford this dinky lil war the the USA is no longer a country of merit...we simply fill up a spot on the map.
