Default Profanity by Cheney was uncalled for

I was greatly disgusted to read about the conduct of the vice-president last week towards a member of Congress. That news was followed by an article revealing how the once-civil attitudes in Congress are deteriorating, and members are openly hostile to one another. At a time when the FCC is putting fines on radio and television personalities for obscenities and suggestive behavior, the vice-president undoes what little progress that has been made towards restoring common decency in our public attitudes towards each other. Not only did he own up to using an obscenity, he was almost bragging as he said he felt better after he did it! I realize that he's a human being like anyone else and subject to fits of temper, but he also needs to realize that he is supposed to uphold a higher standard of behavior. We American's are trying to show the world that we're not the sadistic and barbaric people that we're accused of being, but our political leaders can drag us down to that level with just a few thoughtless words. I have to wonder if a man who has such little control of his tongue is able to be politically effective. I hope he's able to maintain his composure for the rest of his term, let's also hope he's not re-elected. At the very least he should apologize for his un-professional conduct.

Default Tattle Tales

And isn't it funny how the press is ONLY giving us one side of the story here? Isn't it funny how all we hear about it the word Cheney used.....but absolutely nothing about all the nasty things Leahy has been saying about Cheney.....attacking his integrity. Not policy....not issues....but attacking Cheney personally. Then coming up to him in a Senate picture-taking event and asking Cheney, "Aren't you talking to Democrats?" Well, Cheney told him why. And then when Leahy came back with some comment like....."Well, you once said I was a bad Catholic" to try and justify what he'd been saying about Cheney.........Cheney told him off. Because Leahy knows that Cheney never called him a bad Catholic.
Besides, the Senate was not in session. It was a personal conversation. But then to further exhibit Leahy's partisan, hate-filled attitude, he had his two aides run to the press with the "bad word" Cheney said. It's like the neighborhood bully when someone finally fights back, running to his mommy to tell on him. And what's really funny is you Dems acting as if you've never heard the word. And you wouldn't know about this personal conversation either....had the Dems not gone running to their Mommies to be a tattle-tale. Most people respect that even less than a person using a bad word in a personal conversation. I know I do.

Default honestly...

the whole concept of prophanity is annoying too me. Its just a word, and it wouldn't be said 1/10th as often if it wasn't considered taboo.

this event isn't good for much other than a good laugh.

Kerry used it in a published news article....for the Rolling Stones, I believe it was. NOT a private conversation. And Kerry did it because it was Rolling Stones and he wanted to appear "hip." Just as he morphs to match whichever audience he's playing in front of.....

And BTW, when the "liberal press" covered Kerry's word, they repeated it as "an expletive." Even though he had used it in a public forum; not a private conversation. With Cheney, the Washington Post actually wrote the word out. Once again.....trying to do all they can to assist the liberal, and trying to do all they can to make the Republican look bad.

You must not have been paying attention, the media covered it quite extensively.

Yes, my dear. They were NOT in session. They were just having their pictures taken. It WAS private. That is....until Leahy sent his little munchins off to tatlle tale to the press.

And I say....it's about time! Three cheers for Cheney!! Leahy's one of the most hate-filled partisan Senators there is. Right up there with Teddy Kennedy.
