Default Candidate Colbert

Quote:
Stephen Colbert — who announced plans to run for the presidency, at least in South Carolina, on his Comedy Central show Tuesday night — is apparently serious enough that his staff reached out to the state’s Democratic and Republican committees in advance of his announcement.
Joe Werner, executive director of the South Carolina Democratic Party, said that a representative for Mr. Colbert, who was raised in Charleston, called three weeks ago to request basic information about filing dates and other requirements. Mr. Werner added, “From what I understand, he does have credible people down here, working to have him placed on the ballot. http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2...idate-colbert/

Default The People's Candidates

I don't believe either Pat Paulson or Alice Cooper (my favorite) ever actually filed to run for president.

I'm so disgusted with all of them that I'd probably vote for him.

Alice formerly had a drinking problem but now has that licked, he wouldn't be the first. He wears a bit too much makeup and tends to be a bit morbid, but other than that I think he would be a great president.

Default ...

Too bad he's only running in SC. I guarantee you he could take Michigan and Florida.

I would vote for him. Easily. At least he'll make politics funny on purpose.

----

Here is Colbert's stance on social security and senior citizens:

MR. RUSSERT: You know, if you look at the voting blocks that exist in South Carolina and around the country ...I’m quite surprised the way you treat them in this book.

MR. COLBERT: What do you mean?

MR. RUSSERT: Senior citizens? This is what you call them, old people.

“Sorry, but retirement offends me. You don’t just stop fighting in the middle of a war because your legs hurt. So why do you get to stop working in the middle of your life just because your prostate hurts?”

MR. COLBERT: Well, Tim, I, I just don’t understand pensions or Social Security. Why do you get paid after you stop working? That doesn’t make any sense to me.

MR. RUSSERT: Abolish Social Security?

MR. COLBERT: Yes.

MR. RUSSERT: Abolish Medicare?

MR. COLBERT: Yes.

MR. RUSSERT: Abolish all pensions?

MR. COLBERT: Abolish tipping waiters and waitresses because I’ve gotten my food. They get paid by the hour. Why am I giving them extra money? That’s all pensions and Social Security are. It’s a tip at the end of your life.

MR. RUSSERT: Senior voters gone.
