Default Good news in Iraq is bad news for dems

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont...1.368a3ff.html

So what's next on the dems agenda? I guess they're going to have to get out their old bag of tricks, and start a new crisis to throw at the American people. They had such good luck with Iraq. The last thing they need is success in Iraq, with only a year before the presidential election. They tried hard with Katrina, but felt they really had the golden ring with Iraq.

The, "please raise my taxes, democrats", can always fall back on their on their old standbys.

Healthcare - though this may not be in Hillary's best interest.
Poverty - though I dought any election was ever won on this issue.
Abortion - Now this can always draw blood, and I'm sure plenty of liberals would vote on this alone.
gay rights - Same as above
immigration - best if they keep their mouth shut on this one, since most Americans are in favor of some kind of reform.

There's always National Defense .........

True. But remember the Demos have the mainstream liberal media firmly on their side. We see it every day in the headlines and spin they put in print. Just like today's Reuters headline that said something like...."Americans go into Holiday season in Gloomy Mood." (paraphrasing from memory) That was the headline--which is all many people read. But at the end of the article it disclosed that more than a majority see their own situation as good. What they are reacting to when they answer these polls....is NOT their own situations....but what the mainstream media is feeding them.

Pretty disgusting. The media will do all they can to talk down any successes in Iraq and to talk down any good news in the economy for the next year.

Default You're just being weird.

It honestly took me a while to figure out what you guys were trying to say, with your constant accusations that Democrats or liberals or black people or whatever specific demographic you guys are upset with this week are hoping for bad news in Iraq.

See, that's a horrible thing to say and I couldn't figure out why you would say it. It doesn't make any sense at all.

But then I figured it out. You think that bad news is good for Democrats because it's bad for Republicans, right? What you're really trying to do is stave off criticism of the war. 'Cause this war certainly isn't making anybody in politics look good. But it's really making Bush look bad, and Republicans have flocked so tightly to his lead that it's making them look bad, too.

Anyway, it's foolishness. Nobody wants the war to go badly. You guys feel bad when the war news is bad, same as everybody else, but you don't want to face the reality of it so you blame the bad news itself, as if burying your head in the sand could somehow make the war go better.

You're just being weird. I think you should stop it. It's a transparent tactic that accomplishes nothing except to insult people who are actually on your side.

Please stop telling me about it so that can continue telling you how its all worthless and failed.

Nobody wants to lose or have the war go bad in Iraq? It is WAY to late for that crap.

Default Who do you think YOU'RE fooling?

You're the one trying to tell me how I feel about something. Hello. I'm a liberal and I vote Democrat. I'm the people you're talking about and y'know what? You don't know what you're talking about.

You guys have spread this monstrous mischaracterization of liberals for so long that you've come to believe it yourselves. You honestly believe that we are monsters, I guess because how else could we disagree with you on political policy? Ooo ... we want free lunch programs in schools ... we must be Satanic!

I don't believe that you're a monster and I can still disagree with you just fine. Why you have to tell yourselves that I'm a monster because you disagree with me, I don't know. But it's weird.

Default Show me.

Give me some examples of people saying that they wanted to lose.

I think you just get upset when you want to declare victory every five minutes and we don't go along. 'Cause we've heard you guys declare victory before. It's always premature. You start wars, you make huge messes, you get thousands upon thousands of people killed, and then you expect us to genuflect every time some heavily-armed American kid manages to kill the somewhat less heavily-armed Iraqi kid whose neighborhood you sent him to invade? Please.

Show me some results. Show me some winning. And then you will get your pat on the back. Do not accuse me of being defeatist simply because you can't come up with a compelling strategy or even motive for this war that you so desperately, deliberately, have.

Even if you win, all you've won is more war.

Show me something I can believe in. Stop trying to cover up your strategic failures by accusing me of wanting you to fail. I really, really, really want you to succeed. I need you to succeed. My economy depends on it.

You just can't.

I think it's that you don't know what success looks like. Success, my friend, is when the fighting stops. Accomplish that and you can have all the power in the world and no one will stop you. They'll cheer for you. They will greet you with the roses and candy that you inexplicably believe they will bring you as tribute after you've kicked their asses.

Show me. Make the fighting stop. Then you'll get the credit you believe you're due. Not until.

How can one belive in war as a way to solve problems? Violence is supposed to be a LAST resort from what I've been taught. Not this PRE-EMPTIVE stuff.

I don't understand what kind of values some people learn growing up. If someone disagrees with you, you sit down and figure out the problem, not KILL the poor guy. That's how people LEARN things and advance humanity.

If you want to walk around mindlessly smashing everything in your path, you may as well be a neanderthal or a dinosaur. Pass down values to our children that will help advance us as a civilized society, PLEASE.

I swear, sometimes I think I'm typing to a wall here. DuH2, do you live somewhere in tornado alley by chance?

Don't look now but you are performing like the trained seals that Limbaugh,Coulter,O.Rielly, Hannity are paid to brainwash. Spend all your time beating on the other guy, rather than rid your own party of those who are having their way with the country and the hapless voters. The aforementioned folks are laughing their asses off at you, while lining their own pockets.

But that isn't what we've seen. Saddam was a blood-thristy, war-mongering, brutal dictator. Al Qaeda in Iraq has expended much of their efforts in stirring civil unrest between the Sunnis and Shiites. By routing al Qaeda this civil unrest and the associated fighting between the two is way down. Provinces in Iraq are being turned back over to total Iraqi control. Our soldiers are starting to come home. Death in Iraq is way down. What we are winning is less death and violence.
