Default A sobering review of Huckabee`s alleged FAIR TAX

H.R. 25 is the bill number for the alleged fair tax which Huckabee supports. As we shall learn, there is something H.R. 25 has in common with the recent amnesty bill which fortunately went down in flames, but only did so once the American People were exposed to its details. The old saying goes “the Devil is in the details”.

Like the amnesty bill the TEXT OF H.R.25 is far different than its fairy tale version panhandled by Huckabee, Linder, Boortz, and countless fair tax cultists which make up a majority of Huckabee’s supporters. As a matter of fact, Huckabee’s base support is a paper tiger made up of uninformed fair tax cultists.

Ring leaders who are pushing the alleged fair tax have suckered millions of people into believing H.R. 25 will end Congress’s power to lay and collect taxes calculated from profits, gains, salaries and other incomes. But this turns out to be a con job and is the primary gimmick used to lure supporters.

The unfortunate truth is, there is nothing in the text of the proposal to end Congress's power to lay taxes calculated from profits, gains salaries and other incomes! In fact, a reading of the text of H.R. 25 reveals it proposes to establish an additional tax in America for Mary and Joe Sixpack to pay ___ a 23 percent tax upon the sale of property, real and personal, while H.R. 25 keeps alive Congress’s power to lay and collect taxes calculated from profits, gains, salaries and other incomes.

Ask a fair tax cultist where the proposal withdraws from Congress’s power the ability to lay and collect taxes calculated from profits, gains salaries and other incomes and they point to a section in the text which merely proposes to put a temporary moratorium on a few specific taxes which are calculated from incomes. Keep in mind there is nothing in the text of H.R. 25 prohibiting a future Congress to reactivate the specific taxes temporarily suspended after a number of years pass if H.R. 25 were adopted and Mary and Joe Sixpack get used to paying the 23 percent tax.

Of course, if the ringleaders were sincere about wanting to end taxes calculated from incomes, an accomplishment which every freedom loving person would want, they could have provided a stipulation in the text of H.R. 25 prohibiting its enforcement if passed by Congress until a constitutional amendment is ratified withdrawing from Congress’s power the ability to calculate taxes from profits, gains, salaries and other incomes!

So tell us Mike old boy, why do you support a proposal which would establish an additional tax in America, without a stipulation in the proposal that it cannot be enforced if passed until a constitutional amendment is adopted removing from Congress’s power the ability to lay and collect taxes calculated from profits, gains, salaries, wages, tips, inheritances and other lawfully realized money? Tell us Mr. Huckabee, are you in disagreement with the wisdom of Jefferson?

"In matters of Power, let no more be heard of confidence in men, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution"?

Another remarkable thing with the alleged fair tax is, many of its supporters are unaware the federal government’s intrusion into their lives would not be ended! One of the big selling features of the alleged fair tax which Huckabee panhandles is, it will close down the IRS and end the federal government intrusion into our lives!

But it is interesting to note that Huckabee while telling us the IRS would be closed down, does not tell us two new federal tax collecting agencies would be created under his alleged fair tax:

Quote:
302. ADMINISTRATION OF OTHER FEDERAL TAXES.
(a) In General- Section 7801 (relating to the authority of the Department of the Treasury) is amended by adding at the end the following:
`(d) Excise Tax Bureau- There shall be in the Department of the Treasury an Excise Tax Bureau to administer those excise taxes not administered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
`(e) Sales Tax Bureau- There shall be in the Department of the Treasury a Sales Tax Bureau to administer the national sales tax in those States where it is required pursuant to section 404, and to discharge other Federal duties and powers relating to the national sales tax (including those required by sections 402, 403, and 405). The Office of Revenue Allocation shall be within the Sales Tax Bureau.'.

So, although the IRS may be closed down under the alleged fair tax, its employees are merely move to two new tax collecting agencies from which they will still harass the people. And, this does not even take into account the tax enforcers who will still be operating under the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms!

What Huckabee forgot to tell his supporters is, under his supported tax plan, the property which a teenage girl has in her labor when she baby sits for a neighbor is taxed as a “taxable service, and see becomes subject to the iron fist of government as a tax collector selling a taxable service!

The truth is, any individual who may lend their talents [carpentry, plumbing, electrical, auto repair, ground maintenance, painting, baby sitting, manicures, hair dresser, etc.] out to another individual for fair market value compensation, is subject to the iron fist of the feds under the proposed H.R. 25. Here are some applicable citations from the proposed legislation:
Quote:

`(a) LIABILITY FOR COLLECTION AND REMITTANCE OF THE TAX- Except as provided otherwise by this section, any tax imposed by this subtitle shall be collected and remitted by the seller of taxable property or services (including financial intermediation services).

`(f) BARTER TRANSACTIONS- If gross payment for taxable property or services is made in other than money, then the person responsible for collecting and remitting the tax shall remit the tax to the sales tax administering authority in money as if gross payment had been made in money at the tax inclusive fair market value of the taxable property or services purchased.

Aside from the above stated problems with the alleged fair tax, one must also ask why Huckabee supports a proposal which would create a massive, factious and dangerous voting constituency dependent upon a monthly government check? H.R. 25’s family consumption allowance proposes to send a monthly government check to every household in America to offset the 23 percent tax which H.R. 25 would impose upon the necessities of life.

If one believes Social Security has become a troublesome and financially crushing third rail entitlement, just think of the consequences which a monthly entitlement geared to every household in America would bring.

Truth is, the family consumption entitlement would be a gift to Senator Ted Socialist Kennedy and his disciples in Congress who would gladly promise to increase the family consumption allowance during election time to buy votes and remain in power!

Is it that difficult to picture Ted Socialist Kennedy on the Senate Floor giving a speech to increase the family consumption allowance during election time to offset the 23 percent tax upon the necessities of life which H.R. 25 proposes to tax?

Quote:
How dare those who have imposed H.R. 25 on our nation’s poor, now refuse to increase the family consumption allowance to relieve the oppressive nature of a tax which taxes the food a mother buys to feed her child, taxes the clothing she purchases to cloth that child, taxes the fuel used to heat that child’s room during winter, taxes the medicine a mother needs to care for a sickly child, and then taxes the coffin used to bury her child because she could not afford the taxes imposed upon other necessities of life under H.R. 25

Is this what Huckabee wants to create? A massive and dangerous voting constituency dependent upon government for its subsistence which the Washington Establishment will be able to manipulate during elections to keep themselves in power?

Were we not warned in the Federalist Papers that control over a man’s subsistence amounts to a power over his will?

JWK

If we can make the majority of America’s population dependent upon a monthly federal government check, [H.R. 25’s family consumption allowance which Huckabee supports], we can then bribe them for their vote, keep ourselves in power, and keep the remaining portion of America’s population enslaved to pay the bills.

Noted. Thanks, I'll check into this one. I'm kinda starting to like Huckabee, he's a strange cat but he's got some kind of the "right combination" of stuff, going on in his mind, or something - he's clearly got some kind of "thought process" the others don't have. I'd really like to see a one-on-one debate between him and Ron Paul. There was like, two minutes of it, on one of those Fox debates where they got into a little tiff over Iran, but it would be very interesting to hear them discuss something like this tax thing.

I kind of agree about the monthly rebate. Really, that is just a bad idea. The only way to implement a fair tax is to make everyone pay a sales tax. Having a portion of our society recieve a monthly check from the government is just a bad, bad idea.

I say no rebates, no nothing. If you don't like paying taxes, vote for a smaller government. No more voting to spend someone elses money.

The one other solution of course, is to give people an id card that they can show to aviod paying the fair tax on products. Kind of like a handicap sticker to park in the handicap spot. You would get a "I'm too poor to pay my fair share" card and you could show it to the cashier to avoid paying your fair share. The card could even have a picture of a leech on it.

Creating a department to send people monthly rebate checks is a dangerous idea.

Default Keeping Mary and Joe enslaved, the Huckabee way (H.R.25)!

.

It is absolutely amazing how the pushers of the alleged fair tax [H.R. 25], including Huckabee, beat their chests and brag that their tax reform plan will fund existing levels of federal spending under its revenue neutral feature. They are correct! The unavoidable fact is, H.R. 25 was carefully designed to bleed the American People so as to keep financing the Washington Establishment and its political plum job empire at current levels!

How dare someone would ever think of a tax reform plan which may actually encourage Congress to start closing down various offices and departments which have no constitutional basis whatsoever, such as the Department of Education, a creature of Congress which Huckabee supports and is there for no other reason than to provide countless political plum jobs to reward the friends of members of Congress.

We all know the federal Department of Education has approximately 5000 federal political plum job employees with excessive salaries, top of the shelf medical plans, and an outrageous pension program, all of which Mary and Joe Sixpack living in Iowa can only dream of having but would be gouged to finance under Huckabee’s fair tax plan. But the sad truth is, public education just happens to be a state constitutionally authorized function, not a federal function, and yet, Mary and Joe of Iowa would be taxed under Huckabee’s fair tax plan, in addition to being taxed by their state government to fund a state constitutionally authorized function. Seems to me Mary and Joe of Iowa need to ask Huckabee why the alleged fair tax needs to be so high. Seems to me what Huckabee is talked about when he so proudly announces the alleged fair tax would fund existing levels of federal spending, he is talking about Mary and Joe Sixpack being kept a tax slave to finance the Washington Establishment and its millions of federal political plum job holders.

Heck, by closing down the Federal Department of Education which has a budget of $ 67 BILLION, a budget which was the entire federal budget in 1955, surely the fair tax could be lowered and Mary and Joe Sixpack would have more money in their pocket to perhaps pay for their families health care needs.

But then again, the alleged fair tax was not created with Mary and Joe Sixpack in mind. It is designed to benefit the Washington Establishment and its millions of political plum job holders who are rewarded quite handsomely for doubling as Congress’s foot soldiers during election time, and helping to prop up the Washington Establishment.

Want to know how well these federal department of education plum job holders are rewarded by Congress? You may want to sit down before reading the following.

FEDERAL EMPLOYEE OVERVIEW

Quote:
Are you considering a government job? The federal government employs more than 2,715,000 workers and hires hundreds of thousands each year to replace civil service workers that transfer to other federal government jobs, retire, or stop working for other reasons. Average annual salary for full-time federal government jobs exceeds $67,000.

The U.S. Government is the largest employer in the United States, hiring about 2.0 percent of the nation's civilian work force. Federal government jobs can be found in every state and large metropolitan area, including overseas in over 200 countries.

Now wait a second, Mary and Joe Sixpack’s average annual wage amounts to only $40-45 K. Why are Mary and Joe, earning less than those they employee?

In addition, here are other federal employee ``benefits`` which Huckabee plans to tax Mary and Joe to finance:

Life insurance plan___ Mary and Joe Sixpack get to pay 1/3 of a government workers federal life insurance plan.

Federal Employees Dental & Vision Program is a full coverage plan and federal employees get to use pre-tax dollars to pay for their vision and dental premiums while Mary and Joe are forced to use after taxed dollars to fund their Dental & Vision plan.

Under the federal employee retirement system, there is a tax-deferred savings plan known as the ``Thrift Savings Plan``. Under this plan, federal workers may contribute up to 10% of their salaries to the plan, with Mary and Joe Sixpack being taxed to match up to 5% of a federal employees contribution.

Also under the Civilian Service Retirement System a federal employee contributes 7% of their paycheck to retirement while Mary and Joe Sixpack are forced to match that 7 % out of their paychecks.

And, with reference to health insurance, which is in addition to the above mentioned dental and vision plan, see Federal Employees to See Moderate Rise in Health Insurance Premiums

Quote:
Health insurance premiums for federal employees and retirees will increase by an average of 2.1 percent next year, the Office of Personnel Management announced this afternoon.

<Snip>

The federal program will offer 283 plans next year and will provide insurance coverage to about 8 million Americans: civil service and postal workers, retirees, and family members. The government picks up about 70 percent of premium costs in its role as employer.

What the article meant to state is, Mary and Joe Sixpack, who can barely meet their own health care needs, get to pick up about 70 percent of the premium costs to provide health care to federal employees and their families.

And you think the alleged fair tax which Huckabee promotes is designed to benefit Mary and Joe Sixpack? Only a soft spoken flim flam con artist could ever make one to believe that nonsense.

Federalist Paper No. 45 tells us:

Quote:

"The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation and foreign commerce. ... The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives and liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement and prosperity of the State."
So tell us Mike Huckabee, old boy, why does the alleged fair tax have to be so high? Did our founding fathers suffer the same type of enslavement?

“He has erected a multitude of new offices(Washington‘s existing political plum job Empire) , and sent hither swarms of officers, to harass our people, and eat out their substance” ___Declaration of Independence

Dude, what do you want Huckabee to do? We aren't electing a king.

Think about it this way, we live in a society that believes the best way to fix unemployment and a sluggish economy is to start government programs.

Today, a large portion of our country is government employed. When they vote they are voting for their own bosses and paychecks.

No one can get elected by promising to end all government programs. Not in this day and age of entitlement.

You make it sound like Huckabee is trying to increase the size of the problem and not reduce it. Not fair at all. At least he is trying to do away with income tax.

Your anger would probably be best directed at the socialists running around here. They are inches from taking over the government in 2009.

The alleged fair tax is a socialist friendly tax proposal!

And, you are wrong about Huckabee trying to do away with income tax. Fact is, the alleged fair tax would create a new tax in America, a 23 percent tax upon the sale of people’s property, real and personal, while the legislation, H.R. 25, keeps alive Congress’s power to lay taxes calculated from income. What Huckabee is trying to do and seems successful at it is, conning people into believing he wants to end Congress’s power to calculate taxes from profits, gains, salaries and other incomes.
