I believe that the only thing that Obama and his team are actually good at is campaigning. And I believe immigration is another campaign ploy heading to the elections, just like a well crafted plan to bring up social issues repeatedly over the last month or two to diminish Romney in the GOP primaries. By introducing all of these social topics, it gives Santorum greater talking points, which will appeal to the far conservative right, and spark divide in the GOP. There is no question that Obama wants to go up against Santorum and would struggle with Romney.

As for granting amnesty, I think it is crazy, all of the evidence would suggest that such a plan would only make it worse. We need more fact-based decisions in this country, not pandering.

That's why the Democrats never brought it up in 2009 and 2010 when they had a near super majority and "could" have gotten it through.

As White Rights groups have consistently proven, many mexican immigrants are criminals. A few years ago, when the mexicans marched to the Whitehouse, serious crime in the areas they came from went down 40 to 60%.

Plus, several of them - in just this small town where I live - have two or three jobs. They're not taking just one job away from legal, natural-born citizens.

I don't suppose you have a link explaining how this figure is obtained?

How could you "legalize illegals", while preventing natural born citizens from loosing more jobs to them? How do you prevent them from sending out more remittances? How do you deal with the new wave of immigrants once they see how easily citizenship is obtained or how easy it is to to live here with illegal status? Why do you have to insert racism?

Well, if they can't provide one then I guess they're out. I have a friend whose wife came here on a student visa from Russia to get her Master's then PhD in biology at UCSD in San Diego. Then they met, fell in love, got married and so on. The INS is like the DMV. They told them to file a fiancee visa instead of a married visa or something like that. Not sure of all the details but long story short, she was here illegally for almost two years before they got everything worked out. Now that was a long time ago (they've been married at least five years now) but I can't imagine the INS has gotten any more efficient.
So I'd say that at minimum, anyone who can prove they originally came here legally and can provide a complete background is a no-brainer for me.
