Default So this is what Freedom Looks like?

I've been going in and out of the US routinely for at least 3 decades. I live about 3 miles froma border crossing; I have friends int the US. I went to school in the US. I work with US citizens and residents. Today I saw a new low.

First I get pulled in for secondary inspection. Imagine a fair skinned balding/greying late forties man driving a red hot noisy sports car. Yeah I'm going to go over to commit terrorist acts looking like that! Duh!

Then I go to leave the country 2.5 hours later and I find that everyone trying to EXIT is being stopped and screened at the border. In thirty years I have NEVER been stopped trying to leave the US!

So is this the new form of freedom that you folks are enjoying?

You have my sympathies, people. It looks to me like you're living in some form of prison.

Default help help I'm in jail....send bail.

You don't have to come back. Your country is obviously so much better than this prison I live in. So what's the point of even visiting the prison anymore?

Default then just stay home

CanCartFan, today you saw a new 'low' at the hands of America? I'll tell you what, on 9/11 America saw a new low as well. Since then my country has had to protect itself from further terrorist attacks. If you don't agree with us protecting ourselves (I could care less what you look like or what you drive since terrorists come in all shapes, sizes, & drive all sorts of vehicles), that is just too bad. Go complain to the terrorists who have targeted America.

Default ..

It's the border of Canada? (You never said which) Then just don't come back if its so bad that the U.S. is attempting to stop terrorists from crossing over. In 2000, the border patrol into the U.S. stopped a car of terrorists from blowing up Times Square for the millenium celebration.

Live with it.

Default ohh yes!

all you neo-cons, when discussing the pledge, said that "Under God" needs to be kept because its part of our nations history. well guess what, cowboys, imigrants hold a much bigger piece of our history then "Under God", if you catch my drift.

Default WHOA on the taking offense -- CanCart has a point

A great example of going overboard in the wrong area of Homeland Security -- if you watched Fahrenheit 9/11, there was one deputy who was single-handedly responsible for covering over 300 miles of Oregon shoreland from terrorists infiltrators.

However, in Bonillas, Mexico, a small isolated (completely inaccessable, surrounded by hundreds of square miles of chichihuaian desert and mountains, roads there on the Mexican side of the border, practically unheard of) just across the border from Big Bend National Park, both Mexicans and American tourists used to be able to cross the border freely, the Americans going to get a beer and taco in the small village and the Mexicans coming to America to sell tourist trinkets and for medical visits. After 9/11, suddenly little Bonillas was deemed a security risks, no more American tourists can go visit there and the Mexicans are now trapped without the tourist dollars that earned the vast majority of their income and now having to go over 60 miles to the nearest official border crossing, that's 60 miles on rutted dirt trails. It's incomprehensible that small Bonillas poses any threat whatsoever to America.

And yet hundreds of miles of Oregon coastland is ripe for infiltration.

Something is drastically wrong with this picture.

Default borders

Its great that you support immigrants coming to America to make money and using healthcare facilities. They are ONE of the reasons why health care costs are so high, they do not have insurance nor a way to pay for the services and the American tax payers pay in exchange and insurance costs rise. Our borders should be more secure than they were before, which has not been accomplished. Both the Mexican and Canadien borders should both be deemed as security risks because terrorists can still easily cross. Moore can whine about all the poor Mexicans trying to make a living at America’s cost.

If you people don’t think the government knows what foreigners come in and out, you are mistaken. There are dozens of secret facilities along the Canadien border that look just like regular small buildings and monitor all the movements at the borders.

I agree with you that there is something wrong with the picture. I think the Canadien border poses more of a threat.
