The quote, in context, says that of the three "axis of evil" countries -- Iraq, Iran, North Korea -- Edwards thought Iraq was the most serious and imminent threat.

That's not the same thing as saying Iraq is an imminent threat. He's just saying Iraq is more threatening than the other two.

Care to put your fake money where your mouth is?

If we could agree on a criteria — for instance, majority opinion of the analysts on Fox and CNN — I'd be willing to place a gentleman's/gentlewoman's wager on the outcome: Edwards will win.

It has nothing to do with their respective policy positions; the trial lawyer can think on his feet far better than Cheney can, and Cheney has a tin ear as to what will play to the masses. He may score points with the conservative right, but that's not "winning the debate."
Cheney won the debate against Lieberman. Cheney knows all the issues backwards and forwards. And Cheney is quite charming himself....with quite a sense of humor. Remember when Lieberman set Cheney up with that comment about the private sector? Then Cheney said......"Glad to hear you say that Joe about the private sector....because that's exactly where we intend to send you back to."

Just let Edwards start to talk about Halliburton or the "rich." Cheney will come back with how many people he put to work at Halliburton...and compare that to how Edwards sued doctors and hospitals to get himself and one family rich.....one of the very things that causes our healthcare to go up in this country. Cheney might also point out how Edwards is worth more than Cheney and Bush combined and that Johny Kerry leaves them all in the dust! He can remind people that while Kerry and Edwards wants to close the tax loopholes on corporations and tax the working rich....they have no plans for closing the tax loopholes that allows Edwards and Kerry to shelter most of THEIR money.

Just let Edwards bring up the military...and watch Cheney remind people that it was Kerry and Edwards who both voted against giving our military in Iraq the needed funds.

Just let Edwards bring up family values and then be made to explain how it is he says he doesn't believe in gay marriages, but refuses to stand up for it. Let Edwards explain how it is he channeled the thoughts of an unborn baby in a summation for a case where he was suing a doctor who didn't do a caesarrean and thought so much of THAT baby.....but does nothing for the babies who are aborted each year. No money in that, I guess.

Yeah. I can't wait. Bring it on!

A very lame defense. North Korea has nukes for sure. So, I'd say Edwards thought Iraq a more "imminent" threat! He's the one that used that word; not the Bush administration. Bush said we could not afford to wait UNTIL the threat was imminent. He cannot criticize the Bush administration for going into Iraq, when he himself believed that Iraq was an imminent threat to us.

Default DONE!

It's a bet. And the wager shall be:

The loser must write "Raytri (or JP5) was right" 25 times in its own thread.

Edwards will be doing the "Breck Girl" hair commercials by next year! People are smarter than that. They see right through that slick-talking trial lawyer crapola.

Default I agree with the poll...

I really really really hope Cheney stays on the ticket.

That ought to cost Bush even more votes!
