Aren't we Americans lucky to live in a country where this kind of thing can't happen. Freedom of the press and speech is a wonderful thing. I only feel sorry for those who don't have it!

Prophet Mohammed cartoon publisher jailed
Pictures caused mass demonstrations across Muslim world

updated 3:07 a.m. CT, Sat., Jan. 19, 2008
BELARUS - Belarus on Friday jailed for three years an editor of an independent newspaper who reproduced cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed that first appeared in Denmark in 2005 and caused mass demonstrations across the Muslim world.

The 12 cartoons portraying the founder of Islam, including one showing the prophet with a bomb in his turban, outraged Muslims who saw them as blasphemous. More than 50 people died in protests across the world the following year.

Default who cares?

BFD. Who cares?

Hey you, little girls are being gang-raped every day in Darfur.

Where's the outrage?

Little 8-year old girls are being savagely abused by gangs of armed government soldiers.

So why the hell are you telling me about some dumb-a** cartoon?

Jesus H. Christ - it must be election year....

I think it's great to remind people of the rights we take for granted everyday. My son has a t-shirt with a cross on it and the words, "this t-shirt is illegal in 51 countries." Freedoms of speech and religion are the most valuable rights we have. IMO, those rights have to come first or the others are meaningless. We can't imagine being jailed or worse for insulting a religion. We can't imagine having our Bible confiscated. We allow a person to burn the flag that is the very symbol of their right to burn the flag. We are incredibly blessed.

Al Lukashenko the so called president of Belarus has been trying to make nice nice with Certain muslim countries. Belarus depends on all it's ebergy needs from Ruusia so they are looking for a sugar daddy. Belarus ( Belarusian: Прэзідэнт Рэспублікі Беларусь,) is the last of the Soviet countries ( former CCCP republcs) to hold onto Soviet era leaders and thinking. It's so called president Al Lukashenko gave Russia the rights to "guard" the borders of Belarus. He banned to teaching or use of the Belarus language and uses only Russian. He wanted to completely merge with Russia but even the Muscovites do not want complete intergration of these economically dirt poor baboons yet.

Lukashenko used to travel to Moscov to kiss the butt of that KGB slug Putin once evEry two weeks but even Putski got tired of Lukashenko's lips. He has had virtually all opposition arrested and closed down any non govenment controlled media. His so called parliament is called ' The Supreme Soviet of Беларусь'. These sorry excuses for humans are still living in 1922.
