absolutely. as long as the leadership in both chambers agrees to it. If it makes the legislative process more efficient and still passes constitutional muster...

and especially since this whole "revenue bills must originate in the house" was written when the senate was not an elected body that was regularly responsive to the voters.

Those bill need only to be readdressed and reintroduced through the House. It does not mean that the laws would disappear.
again...there is the rub... by the rules of the congress, shell bills that eventually raise revenues are always originated in the house... ergo, your claim that they are unconstitutional is specious. The court has no business telling the congress how to write its own rules... anymore than congress has any business in telling the courts how to write judicial opinions.

Well, we will have to agree to disagree on this point. Manipulating the system in order to clearly circumvent the Constitution is unethical and should be declared illegal. The fact that our politicians believe that this method is acceptable leads to the lack of representation that "We The People" get from our elected officials. One of these days, it would be nice to see our elected Government work for US instead of special and self interest.

so you think that the use of shell bills is proof that congress is at work for the benefit of special interests?

I'm not sure if you are aware or not, but Massachusetts is a State with it's own Constitution.

Also, while ObamaCare might have been based off of RomneyCare, there are some major differences between the two.

Also, I am not "right-wing"....I am an Independent that would like accountability from our Government.

Mitts plan also has the clause that if you do not get health insurance, then you pay a penalty.

Everyone is lining up against Obama-care. Everyone wants Obama out, and Mitt in.

Let me ask you, you want accountability from our government? And how will this be achieved? By ousting Obama and putting in Mitt? By getting rid of the copy cat and putting in the originator?

It is pure hypocrisy if you are going to vote for Mitt because you do not like the Health Care.

I won't be voting for either one of them in November. Pretty sad, when these 2 guys are our only real choice.
