no worries, Obama said gay marriage is good so black on gay crimes are now a thing of the past

anyway, this isn't a hate crime but simply a crime

why do thugs who beat on a person simply get a slap on the wrist? They violated his rights, caused harm and they walk away. Who cares how the victim has sex as it has no bearing on the story. A guy minding his own business gets jumped and the perpetrators walk away.

But, a man who holds a Bible Study group gets tossed into prison for 4 months. Something is wrong with our judicial system

If this is now occuring:

Physically assault a stranger, get charged with a Class A misdemeanor, maybe get up to a year in jail, fines, probation, restitution and anger management classes....
Physically assault a stranger, while screaming derogatory, "group" specific epithets at them, get charged with felony assault, and be looking at 5 years in state prison for violating "hate crime" laws.

What restraints are on the state that would stop this from occuring?:

Physically assault your wife/partner, get charged with a Class A misdemeanor, and get up to a year in jail, a fine, and anger management classes....
Physically assault your "protected minority spouse/partner" while screaming derogatory, women (group) specific epithets at her, get charged with felony assault, and a possible additional 4 years in state prison for violating "hate crime" laws.

Because the 4 men specifically went after another human based solely on their sexuality.

you diminish the crime because you want the story to be about how the guy has sex vs a group of thugs jump him and they get slaps on the wrist. Meanwhile, a guy gets 4 months jail time for holding Bible Study.

Let go of the gay stuff and look at the bigger issue, our judicial system is messed up.,
