Thread: Youth voter turnout lagging

  1. Default Youth voter turnout lagging

The bad news just keeps on coming for the Democrats. Gallup just released a poll which shows a 20% drop in 18-29 year old intentions to vote this year. 50+ shows a 7% rise. Even using the current national poll results, turnout is crucial for Obama. Remember most polls are still using registered voters not likely voters and most of the youth voters tend to support the Democrats.

we knew that after the 08 election

"the one" was portrayed as a rock star, cool, had swagger, was hip. But, like Facebook and Twitter he is just a fad. Most of the young voting age could care less and Obama is no longer this cool outsider and wave to ride with every other lemming (like tattoos being popular for a while)

The same holds true with the black vote. Yes, Axelrod will have paid armies going door to door trying to bring people to the polls but it's just not in fashion.

Team Obama has problems and i've been saying that here for more than a year that the young and the blacks will not turn out in droves like in 08. Sure he'll get 95% or greater of the balck vote (simply on policy and not anything elese) but the total number of votes will be substantially less.

The number to watch are the good Americans who sat idle in 08 knowijg that no matter what, Obama was being handed the presidency. Well, this time it's different and good Americans are angry and p'd off at what has been done to our country.

The only concern should be how many people who never leave their homes or fill in an absentee ballot somehow have their name cast a vote.

Conservatives had their chance to capitalize on the youth vote - which, at this point, would pretty much guarantee them a win - but instead they rejected the right candidates.

The youth vote is always hyped up, even though the youth turnout was the second largest in US history in 2008, is still only rose by around 4% from 2004 numbers. If I were Obama, i'd be more concerned with winning Independents of all ages.

Yes...promised "hope" and "fundamental change", our hopeful and idealistic youth lauded rock star status on the Boy King in 2008....

but I think they're beginning to understand that he just lip syncs the tired and unoriginal liberal narratives of class begrudgment, higher taxes, more spending, more regulations, more government control, more debt, and more onerous government intrusions on liberty and economic freedom...

none of which inspires the public sector economic confidence and growth
that would present them opportunity to apply their expensive, student loan debt saddled educations to meaningful employment.

    I don't smell a "shellacking"....I smell a bloodbath.

I cannot wait for this bloodbath to ensue, and for him to be replaced by a man who's his ideological identical on nearly every issue, Mitt Romney.

But, on topic, yeah, of course the youth don't care. They thought Barack was different, but he proved to be a fraud. The youth supported Ron Paul, but thanks to the older Neocons, we got Romney. Yay.

and Ron Paul would have been defeated worse than MGovern or Dukakis were and we would have Obama in office for four more years systematically destroying the USA with his attacks on capitalism and civic freedoms

can't go around and preach you want to legalize drugs and prostitution and expect to win a national election

What makes them good Americans? That they didn't vote? I always thought a good American always exercised his/her right to vote.
