Thread: More Obama Voters Than McCain Voters SWITCHING PARTIES This Year

  1. Default More Obama Voters Than McCain Voters SWITCHING PARTIES This Year

    According to the typically left-leaning Gallup poll, Barack Obama is having a harder time keeping voters who voted for him in 2008, than the GOP is keeping voters who voted for John McCain:

    Poll: More Obama voters than McCain voters are switching parties this year

    ..

    President Barack Obama is having more difficulty keeping 2008 supporters on his side than Mitt Romney is having holding onto John McCain voters, according to a new Gallup poll.

    A survey of registered voters conducted July 23-29 found that 92 percent of Americans who voted for McCain in 2008 plan to vote for Romney this fall and just 5 percent have switched sides to support Obama. But among Obama's 2008 supporters, just 86 percent are planning to do so again and 9 percent are switching their support to Romney.

    Overall 11 percent of voters who say they cast ballots for Obama or McCain are supporting the other party's candidate.

    The margin of error for all 2008 voters is plus or minus 3 percentage points. For the sample of Obama or McCain voters, the margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.

    I do hope so. The electoral college vote is what we've got to worry about. It's all about those battle ground states.

    Yep, indeed. We need Ohio, Colorado,Florida,and Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, or Minnesota.

    I think Romney might actually get more of the popular vote by a small margin, but even if we're to take all the electoral votes which RCP list as 'toss ups' and add them to states solidly, or leaning towards Romney, that only puts him at 291. Obama is already at 247 with states that are solidly for or leaning towards Obama, minus any toss up states. It's an uphill battle, not impossible, but seems unlikely at this point. Hopefully a fair deal of those states which lean towards Obama will shift the other way.

    I've already braced myself for another four years of Obama. I'm hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst. On the bright side though, another four years of Obama will certainly bring a strong conservative presidential candidate for the next election.

    291 will do the trick,as 270 is the "magic number".

    Yep, but Romney's 291 as I described earlier is a best case scenario. I doubt he'll get all the toss up states. The best hope is that he gets most of the toss ups, the states that are solid Romney, the states that lean Romney, PLUS some of the states which are predicted to lean Obama.

    It's gonna come down to ground game...getting our people out to vote.

    I still think it is too early to call in anyone's favor. Even with a sour mood in the country an incumbent is an incumbent. Unfortunately for Obama things are pretty bad. Yes they have improved from the bottom but there is still plenty of reason for Obama to be worried about his chances. Only time will tell. A couple of years before Obama ran no one seriously said he could win let alone win decisively. So we'll see. If Romeny laid off the gaffs and extreme flip flops he would do much better... IMHO.

    Let's see how it looks according to fivethirtyeight:

    Ohio = Obama up 4.8.
    Colorado = Obama up 3.3
    Florida = Obama up 2.3
    Wisconsin = Obama up 6.7
    Pennsylvania = Obama up 6.9
    Minnesota = Obama up 8.0

    Uh oh!

    One thing is certain, the Romney campaign needs to kick it in to overdrive.
