Default Exxon reports $40b profit, jobs down

http://www.usnews.com/articles/busin...-windfall.html

Here you go, folks - Bushie's economic policies in a nutshell.

Profits up, jobs down.

Voila. Don't say I didn't tell you so.

By the way - I have essential job skills for the coming Depression.

I know how to live out of garbage cans, sleep in doorways, and beg for change.

I can show you how to play the guitar, "well enough", so you can probably sing for your supper.

For a small fee (enough for, say, a loaf of bread), I can be your personal consultant, until you can survive "on your own".

You can PM me, if you wish.....

Default Profits up, Jobs down ...

Means workers are being screwed, Blade. Why doesn't that bug you?

If civilization collapses, I'll just expand my benevolent dictatorship (it currently extends out ten feet in all directions from wherever I am at the moment).

High profits means workers are screwed? That's pretty much a nutsy notion.

Never hear that anymore either. What happened to our monopoly laws, what happened to our usury laws, what happened to our truth in lending laws, what happened to caring for your fellow man, what happened to "our employees are our greatest asset? Lets not forget that oil company get gigantic subsidies, BLADE that would be on your dime! Well more than your dime, "W" gave them 2.6 BILLION in subsidies, feel better now or worse?

High profits are good for some people. Coupled with a loss in jobs, however, they're good for fewer people, and at a certain point (I couldn't tell you the exact number), they become bad for the people that they aren't good for because the improvement in one group's market leverage degrades the market leverage of another group.

So yes, high profits mean workers are screwed if the workers don't get to share in those profits.

Now stop pretending you don't know this. I've seen you make posts that aren't completely stupid.

Default hey Blade

Blade, the point here, is this: these people, they keep promising you stuff, and it never materializes!!!

Do you remember, when they told us, a few years back, that keeping all these frivolous lawsuits out of the HMO space, would reduce our medical costs?

Well? Did it ever materialize?

And now, they're telling you that corporate profits are good, and that they get re-invested, and result in more jobs.

But Blade, show me one more person that Exxon has hired. Show me one new job at Exxon! Can you do it? Hmm.... didn't think so.....

Blade, they're lying to you!!!

The truth is, that all that money is going into the executives' pockets! Have you checked out the stock options these guys get? It's nuts, man! And all that is, is, if they make more profits for the company, they get more stock options. NO ONE GETS A JOB OUT OF THE DEAL!!!

Blade: heed my words: they are lying to you!!!

These stinkin' no good Neo-Con scum, are lying through their teeth!!!

What have I been telling you, dude?

Time to wake up now!

(shake shake shake - Blade! - wake up, buddy - that's the alarm clock, man - you gotta get to work - come on, man!!!)

Hey, Nonsqtr, do you know what Exxon owes you? Absolutely nothing. But if they are making billions in profits, why didn't you buy their stock?
