Default Recruitment ban?

It does sound weird that they would ban recruiters. Speaking as a liberal, we're not much into banning stuff.

I wonder if the recruiters did something that made them unwelcome, and that part's being left out of the story.

Right. More unintelligent drivel.
I agree with your point concerning Bushies and likes abusing the loyalty of the military. I left the military because I knew the dud and his henchmen were nothing but frauds and this is coming from a registered Republican. I do thank Bush in that I've come to realize I'm really no party. I think both Dems and Repubs are low life greedy liars on power trips. I will not hesitate to defend my country from foreign invaders who want to overthrow us and actually poses a real threat, but I will never again willingly serve such numbskulls pretending to lead our nation. I would sooner serve in a militia than in a military led by incompetence.

I also agree that civil disobedience is a powerful tool and should be preferred over war or civil war. However, reasons for war are never so simple. In our world, alliances, politics, money, ambitions, they all play a role in why leaders decide to fight. Sometimes, the other guy simply needs to be put in there place. It's no difference than disciplining a child who is challenging authority. Unfortunately, in the world of governments, that discipline often involves killing.

Peace is nice. Peace is preferred. But we need Marines who may rub the intellectuals wrong because they are the ones who can get the dirty job done. Respect that if you want to be respected as an intellectual.

The beauty of our nation is that such diverse peoples and opinions can live relatively harmoniously together. I appreciate the views of others, but I will always have my own opinions, as will you.

Rule no. 42 of the communist manefesto reads as follows:

In that the bousuase (communists cant spell as you can clearly see) are consumed with exploitation of the masses, they brainwash their citizens to ensure their domination of the proletariot (who are in our country illegally). Our calling is to liberate them from the control of those arrogant capitalist pigs. The plan is to undermine their confidence in the military. Since the Marines are badest of the bad, we will start with them first.

Text message to CPA in California: Berkley is nearly all ours, so get the Marines out of there first.

What hell do the recruiters expect? Berkeley is famous for protesting the Vietnam war…where do you think all those anti war protesters went? They’re still here!
I thought that would have died of drug overdoses, aids, police raids, or old age by now. Are we sending SS checks to the Bolsheviks of Berkeley????

The problem with humanity is that we have a tendency to ban things outside of our own immediate ego. Liberals included.

One of the oddest things about certain liberal mantras is that it teaches young minds to question all things except the liberal mantra itself. This is true in other settings as well, but I always found it ironic that liberals think they are outside the box when all they've done is move into a different compartment.

I've personally seen examples on the campus in Madison where a person in uniform could have been the most respectful person in the world and would yet be ridiculed and hated for simply walking down a public sidewalk in uniform.

There are good and bad people in all walks of life. I think it is equally absurd to automatically label any one in uniform a hero just because of 9/11. I know of plenty men and women in uniform who are not worthy of any such considerations and they didn't even beat or kill prisoners. They are simply bad characters who joined the military.

Default suppression of free speech comes from both poles

The suppression of free speech can and does come from both poles of the political spectrum. The only difference is that the extreme lefties do it using (actually abusing) the law. The extreme right used the power of the market when the abuse of the law fails to work for them. Suppression of free speech is despicable no matter from whence it comes. The lefties are just more phoney about it since they talk a good game but act diferently.

I had been the target of hatred by my history professor in my freshman year when he warned a few of us who came to class in ROTC uniforms that we will not be welcome in his class if we were 'those uniforms' agian to 'his' class. I reported the Bolshevik to my ROTC commander and who sent me to a law school professor to get me a copy of the US Land Grant law since I knew that my University started life as a LAND GRANT COLLEGE in the last Ice Age.
The bag of dirt was in violation of interfering with the 'military tactic' provision of that law.
That week it was ROTC 1 /dirt bag 0

extract " The purpose of the land-grant colleges was:

without excluding other scientific and classical studies and including military tactic, to teach such branches of learning as are related to agriculture and the mechanic arts, in such manner as the legislatures of the States may respectively prescribe, in order to promote the liberal and practical education of the industrial classes in the several pursuits and professions in life.[4]
