Sunnyside--- the response you pointed to on McCains 100 years line is what I mean.

You can tell its just another spin. Its been 8 years of this nonsese starting with the Gore in 2000. Scandals, conspiracies, obvious distorition, saying things like 'listen to the generals' then calling the generals liars..
Can you count the number that have worked for them?

Not hard to count to zero is it.

Okay. I'll buy that. I mean, not to nitpick, but I would add to that that Iraqis shouldn't be harmed, either, but in a nutshell, I'll go along with this.

I don't see that happening, though. If we're there in a hundred years, we'll have had to fight the entire time.

Um, haven't really followed this thread but crestwood really showed me another reason not vote for good ole Ron.

In the text that crestwood provided, Ron Paul clearly showed his lack of knowledge in the Middle East as well.

Quote:
For over a thousand years the West has dominated the Middle East.
Tell the Ottoman Empire that, cuz if I remember correctly they dominated the Middle East for a good 500 years .

Sorry for the side note but I felt this deserved everyones attention

The only way Iraq will work is if we stay there and protect their fledging Democracy until it blossoms (which could be a while as long as we constantly hang it over their heads that we'll pull out at anytime ).

Past empires are examples of how the Imperial Garrison will work

So if Americans are being injured, harmed, wounded or killed, McCain would "cut and run"? ...but only after 100 years. Looks like McCain is setting a timetable, which will only embolden the enemy, <insert more neocon talking points here>....

Quote:
...and I hope it would be fine with you if we maintain a presence in a very volatile part of the world where al Qaeda is training, recruiting, equipping and motivating people every single day."
So he expects al Qaeda to be there in 100 years? I suppose if they have that strong mobilizing catalyst for training, recruiting, and motivating people, that might be the case. 4 more years of this neocon nonsense is something this country shouldn't have to deal with.

His point is clear and until Obama or Hillary declare that all US military in every allied naiton will be withdrawn I see no reason to make a special case of hatred for Iraq. Just to placate naive people who think wars a game they can throw away and lie about losing.

Iraq the most strategically important bit of dirt in Eurasia...wake up.

Never heard anything as stupid as this shaft Iraq as an ally crap.

Globally... huh.. so which enemy in Iraq are you talking about.. you know, which death/war/horror globally is going to come from Iraq if we leave... specifically. Not some vague, McCain like, it will all be blood and death...

Do you claim that Al Qaeda will take over the country, create a fundamentalist regime and launch terrorist attacks from Iraq, is that what you are claiming... if not, what are you saying?
Yeah, just like you anti-war fools think what is happening in Darfur is not genocide...

Point is we were there already from the first gulf war. Hussein broke his deals and resolutions and wouldnt comply. Fact is that nation before we went in supported terrorist groups including al quada. Fact is we leave now, we will yet again leave another nation of broken promises. Remember Afganistan back in the late 1980s? After Soviets let, we also left them hanging...Lets not do this to Iraq....
