Default Definition of a "RALLY"

So.....why in the world would you want to go to a 'RALLY' for someone unless you were a supporter? Why would a NON-SUPPORTER want to go to a rally for someone....unless it's to make trouble? Do you understand the concept of a RALLY???? A rally is like a pep rally....for SUPPORTERS.

There are plenty of other events where you could see the Vice President if you truly just want to see the Vice President.

It does not matter what you call it. Every American should have the right to listen to their leaders without providing their addresses, phone numbers and DL#. If I am undecided, this is a chance for me to be convinced by either party. Is this not "SWING VOTER SEASON"? What is the VP afraid of? That someone will ask him a tough question? Or protest a position?

Why do you have the conception that if I disagree with a candidate, my presence at his rally or seminar will be cause trouble? Where are you getting that from? Or are you simply painting all of us with a broad brush?

The real question here is this: Why should any American have to disclose "personal info" that has nothing to do with listening to your VP speak?

Your excuse is flimsy.

Default Private Party

No it's not.

Think of it as a private party. Do you think YOU should be invited to EVERY private party there is? Heck, during the 2000 campaign, Al Gore came here to Dallas at rallies for him.....and I wasn't invited!! ONLY his supporters and potential contributors were invited. Should I have complained?????

a private party. It wasn't advertised as that, and the support-pledging requirement wasn't known to anyone until they got there. I don't think it's a problem for most people, the VP can invite anyone he wants to hear him, but i think it's a stupid move by the Reps. It creates the appearance of an exclusionist party.

Default What a great article

I am printing it for my students to read. I am in New Mexico and I do not think this will go over well.

Endorsement...HA

I can see a form of some kind to assure security, (Doesn't secret service do this stuff?)--but an endorsement that can be used for publicity.
HA

Really something aren't they! As far as I am concerned--I hope they continue with this m.o.

You know, I would agree with you except that this Administration has taken every opportunity (Constitutional and un-Constitutional) to suppress dissent. Obviously, no one can make the President read the newspapers or mail from the people, but the far away protest zones and the police harassment and Secret Service harassment of protestors should make anyone who doesn't want to see this country turn into a totalitarian state very nervous. It only makes me more nervous to see that the democrats are pulling the same stunts at their convention (a sign of things to come?).

Rallies like this are just more proof that this administration only wants to hear from those who like them. Such polarizing of the American people into the "you like us--you have access" and the "you don't agree with us--get lost" makes it clear that this Administration doesn't serve the people of the US, but only a small subset.

It is a sad state of affairs.

Default REPIGNICANS SCARED...........

.....this is right in line with the current regime's opinion on what America stands for and fits right into their idea of what democracy should be, and honey they ain't thinkin' FOR the people BY the people.

JP dear - you are sounding tired and desperate. Your attempts to rationalize, humanize and democratize the fascist corporate 'hos you SO foolishly were tricked into voting for (your own fault - - READING is FUNdamental honey) are getting thin.

You should take a break - - you are gonna have a really rough time before the election and the big loss then will drain you further.
