Heres a clue, you're going to be searching for a long time.
OK... Here is a definitive speech by Bush, in the week before congress voted to authorize force, where he justifies the reasons for war..

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/relea...0021007-8.html

Notice the key introduction of the speech. The introduction where the President of the United States makes absolutely clear the most significant reason for war:

Quote:

Tonight I want to take a few minutes to discuss a grave threat to peace, and America's determination to lead the world in confronting that threat.

The threat comes from Iraq. It arises directly from the Iraqi regime's own actions -- its history of aggression, and its drive toward an arsenal of terror. Eleven years ago, as a condition for ending the Persian Gulf War, the Iraqi regime was required to destroy its weapons of mass destruction, to cease all development of such weapons, and to stop all support for terrorist groups. The Iraqi regime has violated all of those obligations. It possesses and produces chemical and biological weapons. It is seeking nuclear weapons. It has given shelter and support to terrorism, and practices terror against its own people. The entire world has witnessed Iraq's eleven-year history of defiance, deception and bad faith.

We also must never forget the most vivid events of recent history. On September the 11th, 2001, America felt its vulnerability -- even to threats that gather on the other side of the earth. We resolved then, and we are resolved today, to confront every threat, from any source, that could bring sudden terror and suffering to America.
So you can delude yourself all you want that it was the "main stream media" that conned the country into thinking the reason for war was WMD. But that would be a revisionist delusion.

President Bush himself states clearly in this historic speech, given 5 months before we invaded, why we must invade Iraq. And what does he say:

1) WMD
2) Support of terrorism
3) Terrorizing his won people
4) Because of 9/11

And if you look at the introduction, WMD takes up the first 3/4 of the introduction then the other points are thrown in as one sentance or less afterthoughts.

Notice that the next 9 paragraphs he goes on and on about WMD and the threat and missles that are going to launch them.

Then in paragraphs next three paragraphs he goes on about links to terrorists, specifically mentions Al Qaeda and then scares everyone that Iraq could give chemical or biological weapons to terrorists to attack America. This is the big pitch with both of the big lies tied together, WMD and links to Al Qaeda.

Then President Bush goes on for 6 more paragraphs about Iraq building nukes with the ultimate threat and fear tactic:
Quote:
Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof -- the smoking gun -- that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud.
I'll give you that he mops up the very end of his speech with the mention of hope and human rights. Notice that in the entire speech, the word "Democracy" is not even mentioned once.

President Bush's reason for war was WMD !

This is strait out of his own mouth. So you can try to blame the Media and claim that the war was to spread democracy, but that is just another republican lie.

WASHINGTON - Congressional Democrats are turning to more populist, economic themes like mortgage foreclosures and big oil companies' profits now that military progress in Iraq is generating mixed political reviews.

Even when they talk about the war, Democrats often highlight its drain on the economy. One top senator called the new emphasis "a turning point in our argument against this war."

Bush Says Congress Should Acknowledge War Progress
By Edwin Chen and Holly Rosenkrantz
Feb. 28 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush said Congress should acknowledge the progress U.S. troops are making in Iraq and approve the funding he's requested for the conflict.
....
``The same people who once accused me of refusing to acknowledge setbacks in Iraq now are the ones who are refusing to acknowledge progress in Iraq,'' Bush said at a news conference in Washington. ``What they need to do is stand by our brave men and women in uniform and fully fund the troops.''
.....
``Congressional leaders are still sounding the same old call for withdrawal,'' Bush said today. ``I guess you could say that when it comes to pushing for withdrawal, their strategy is to stay the course.''

I love it when a point is proven and all the opposition has left is Obama's run back to the past routine.
