Now you have showed your total ignorance.

Considering the Sarajevo assassination of archduke Franz Ferdinand, it had nothing to do with Serbia since it was in Bosnia and was committed by a secret organization called "The black hand". And then again, the assassination was just a spark, since the war was inevitable. But you should read some history first.

Serbia signs tripartite pact with the nazis, 1941
As for the tripartite pact, it was signed by a government (led by a regent) that was overthrown quickly after that. It was the government of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, and the pact itself considered no military involvement.

Quote:
On March 25, 1941 in Vienna, Prince Paul (Pavle), Regent of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, signed the Tripartite Pact. It was not easy for Hitler to gain Yugoslavia's cooperation. There were strong anti-German feelings in the country, especially among the dominant Serbian population. On March 27, the regime was overthrown by a military coup d'état with British support, and the 18 year old King Peter II of Yugoslavia seized power.

Fearful that Britain would not be in any real position to help in an eventual war with Nazi Germany, they declared that Yugoslavia would adhere to the Tripartite Pact. As the initial agreement of the document was only regarding Yugoslavia's acceptance of the free movement of German troops around the country, this was unsatisfactory to the Führer, who resolved to invade.

Postponing Operation Barbarossa, the Germans simultaneously attacked Yugoslavia and Greece. Starting on April 6, the Luftwaffe bombed Belgrade for three days and nights. German ground troops moved in, and Yugoslavia capitulated on April 17.

.
Nothing to do with Serbia? - But the "Black Hand" were Serbs that crossed into Bosnia with the blessing of the Serbian Army - infact the Serbs provided the bombs and handguns to the black hand so they could carry out the assisnation.

The only reason why Britain funded and armed Tito and his partisans during WWII was because they were the only group that were remotely interested in fighting the Germans -as British agents reported that most Serb/Bosnian/Craotian partisans were more interested in fighting amongst each other.

What a country!

When are the elections "Amused"?
What are the polls predicting - a pro-EU landslide? or are the Nationalist showing well?

A bit like the highland clans and the lowland clans, then the catholics v the protestants Im thinking of Culloden as well, but as a protestant Im sure you could name a few more, maybe the colonisation of northern Ireland by protestant scots sent by James V1 King of Scotland who also happened to be James 1 of England

To coin a phrase "what a country"

"The black hand" did have support amongst some army officials, but it was by no means supported by the government. It was just a plot. The reason was maltreatment of Slavic population by the Austro-Hungarians and the annexation of Bosnia.

But then again, the Germans did plan to invade France long before that, so the war was inevitable.

There is an anecdote considering Churchill's support of Tito and the communists in Yugoslavia. When being asked by an army official why Britain helped establish communism in Yugoslavia which was two-time Britain's war ally, Churchill replied:"Are you going to live there?". The guy said:"No!". Churchill:"Then why do you care?"

So much for the "allies".

Churchill and Tito had a lot in common, they both liked suits, and did not wear uniforms in public most of the time.

They both liked cigars.

They both had great interlect, but suffered from length of consentration (adt?), Churchill was a dyslexic, the croatian language has less letters in its alphabet so I am not sure about Tito, bit moist groot pople are!

Unlike Tito he lost the will of the people after the war and was voted out!
