Matsushiro - underground Imperial HQ

Quote:
The supply of food was soon disrupted by the Allied naval blockade. The presence of US, British and Dutch submarines, along with long range aircraft dropping mines into sealanes and harbour approaches, or torpedoing vessels during maritime patrols, were taking a steady and increasing toll on Japanese tonnage. The effect of this attrition was that food shipments were plummeting. The supply of imported food was becoming unreliable, and large amounts of what did reach Japan was appropriated for the military.
the military ate while civilian's were starved. of course American POW's paid for this with their lives. but I guess American lives are not discussed here. only Japanese

There seems to be a lack of American Patriotism (because of to much politically correct pacifist liberals or Neville Chamberlains) with some of these guys who assume that we could just shake hands with the nips and be done with the war.

Well its because they fail to grasp that the Japanese were not resonable, surrender was a huge dis-honor, and honor is just about the most important thing the Japanese. Saving face is still a big deal with the Japanese.
