Yeah, and so we saved millions of them from having to die. Seems like a pretty good decision from where I'm standing.

Violence does not solve anything, I thought you would have learnt from that by now.

No matter whether it was the best thing to do or not, I cannot look past the fact that hundreds of thousands of innocent people died, and thousands of people are still suffering, even to this day. You might be able to look past it, but I can't. That's just the way I am.

The civilians didn't, though.

WHAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND. Dropping the bomb resulted in less violence and less death. Most of those people died instantly and painlessly. Others did die of leukemia. HOW IS MILLIONS OF THEM DEAD IN AN AMPHIBIOUS INVASION LESS VIOLENCE THAN THE BOMB?

I understand perfectly why the bomb was dropped, and the reaosning behind it. However, I am sure things could have done differently, if given the chance.

Of course they could have been done differently, the question is whether or not they could have been done better, and the answer is no.

But you cannot say this for sure, because no other option was taken, or considered, before the bomb was dropped. Things could have worked out differently. I don't think so many people needed to die, is all. Is that really so bad an opinion?

This is simply a factual error. Truman did not want to nuke the Japanese, he only decided to after about a month of deliberation. I don't think so many people should have died, but if it was the minimum, then so be it. And it's not a bad opinion, I just think it's impractically optimistic.

Yeah, I've been told my opinion is impractical before, so it's okay. I just see things differently to you, is all.
