Default Congress OKs halt to oil reserve shipments

Congress OKs halt to oil reserve shipments
"Bush argues that the 70,000 barrels being delivered per day is too small to affect markets."

The POTUS Bush is correct this will not have any dicerably affect upon the price of oil or by products. POTUS Bush is not right on too many thing but this one he is right on target!!1

"With Republicans joining Democrats, the Senate voted 97-1, and the House of Representatives voted 385 to 25, to suspend the shipments "

Both the Demons and the Repubatubs do not have any balls so they do the political thing and not the correct thing!!!

I am not surprised but I am disgusted !!! Gow some ball Congress!!!

Great, Congress does yet another thing to make us more vulnerable to our enemies.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Let's see----70,000 barrels a day out of the 21 MILLION barrels a day that we use is NOT going to effect a thing in the prices. And who are these freakin' Senators to say we already have enough in case of world-wide threat to the oil supply? The Strategic Oil Reserves are only 97% of capacity; that's a 2 month supply for us of the foreign oil imports. I wonder if these Senators are willing to "go on record" that if something happens and God forbid we ever NEED these reserves, that they will take FULL BLAME for the FACT we won't have it available to us??? No, I'll bet not. They would act, deaf, blind and dumb about the whole thing and find a way to blame someone else. That's the privilege of being a Senator; ONE out of 100----you don't have sole responsibility for ANYTHING. And you can HIDE from everything you do.

Both parties are just trying to distance themselves from Bush. They're selling their souls to advance their political careers.

This was a totally insane decision. It will not affect oil prices and lessens our ability to deal with supply disruptions.

W will veto it.

It doesn't really matter about affecting the world market. It's an insurance investment for the nation. How many people actually USE their insurance, but still pay for it?

I think 70,000 barrels increase might change the price of gas by about a cent or two, but nothing very serious. Honestly, its a waste of oil.

The whole concept that maybe if we cheapen oil "right now" is just sad and a pathetic attempt to curb an ever-increasing oil price that looks to have no future in declining. Its a stupid political move that will have no real benefit and Bush is right, there will hardly be an effect on the market.

But instead of focusing on the real issue of oil reserves reaching or having reached peak production, they seek the more popular route of ignoring the long term problem for a quick fix that wont do anything.

No new large oil reserves have been found within the last 10 years, Mexico is in deadlock, Canada is literally digging up its oil and the Alaskan Reserves are still being protected (for good or for bad). The US is looking to hard times in the future and the fact that China and India are two rising economies that threaten to encroach upon the oil markets just means that the future we face will only have increased oil prices.

And we still have people crying for a gas tax for future investment... seriously, sometimes I have no hope for our political future.

Wrong. There have been oil reserves found that are massive right here in the USA and off the gulf coast of Louisiana.
