Assuming that your questions are rhetorical, I agree with you wholeheartedly on the redistribution of wealth, Bob.
(Since I am new to this board, I will take this time to acknowledge that I am neither conservative nor liberal. My ultimate guiding political principles are those which promote negative liberty and individualism.) |

Negative liberty is the freedom to act. Its name is derived from its negation to positive liberty. Positive liberty is the freedom to receive, as in to participate with and "profit" from dealing with the government. This branch of freedom is the one which liberals argue for, with regard to their insistence that all men have a "right" to free medicinal care and the like. Negative liberty, on the other hand, is derived from the freedom to not be bothered by or troubled with governmental regulation. It is the ability to earn your own living.
Lecturing aside, I will remember to call you "Billy." |

Negative liberty is not termed as "negative" due to being "bad," the word "negative" is supposed to negate governmental intervention that positive liberty promotes. (Positive liberty does promote governmental intervention; negative liberty does not promote governmental intervention.).

people who so passionately support the war but lead lives that are virtually unchanged by it.

That is the whole point of the Constitution. Liberties are ours automatically, the government can only intrude upon them and we have the right and obligation to fight the government back when they do it. So says BillyBob. |

I didn't know that people were being conditioned to support the war. Democrats are the ones who condition people to "do the right thing," such as in political correctness. The people in America who support the war are generally supportive of thinking for themselves first.
