On a recent thread a forum member replied with "Yes!" (note the exclamation mark) when the following question was thrown out:
"IS IT MORAL TO STONE PEOPLE TO DEATH FOR SIMPLY HAVING SEX OUTSIDE OF MARRIAGE?"


Interestingly, at least 1.3 billion people likely agree with him, based on their religion.

After I fell off my chair at the response, I thought I'd ask this question: what should be the punishment (if any) for sex outside of marriage?

In the civilized Western world, their is often scorn, but no torture, "80 lashes", and death as their is in the Islamic world.

Also, have you been caught doing this, and what punishment did you face (maybe Muslims can't answer, since no internet in jails or in a coffin)?

The punishment should be whatever society deems an appropriate punishment. If another culture believes in liberal use of capital punishment then thats great, good for them.

I believe that there should be no punishment for sex outside marriage. Although I believe it is bad, I think it should be dealt with as a family issue.

If sex outside of marriage was that bad, less people would be doing it. Guess it must be good sex.

As for making sex an inside the family issue, I dunno. I can't help but feel horrified for the folks that trapise down that incestuous path. For example, if Aunt Mildred forgets to wear her dentures - makes it hard for a dutiful nephew to figure out where her tongue ends and the lips begin.
