Default Alicia Keys blames "Whitey" for "Gangsta Rap"

Quote:
“‘Gangsta rap’ was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other,” she says, putting down the sandwich. “‘Gangsta rap’ didn’t exist.”

Come again? A ploy by whom?

She looks at us like it’s the dumbest question in the world. “The government.”

I didn't know N.W.A. was made up by a bunch of governmental types? Right in the middle of the Reagan Administration too! Whodathunkit??

P.S. Just like all keys, Alicia is a tool.

And the ploy seemed to have worked. How did we get the black folks to do that I wonder? Because if we can do that why don't we just kill them all directly and be done with it?

Icon19 Gangsta, gangsta

The problem goes down both sides of the street. The record companies that produce and sell some of these songs and the artist that make them. The majority of these people are middle class blacks that have never even been in the "hood", they just try to portary the part.

And why is this toxic music so pervasive today? Profits. Major media and entertainment corporations rake in hundreds of millions of dollars from this music that is polluting our airwaves.

Regrettably, somewhere in the last 20 or 25 years, many of our young people have been crowded into a cultural corner down a dark alley where violence, hedonism, misogyny and materialism are celebrated. Gangsta rap songs and videos in which women are referred to as b----es and h-es assault our children constantly, regardless of whether they live in the inner city or the suburbs. Rappers who dish up this form of music glamorize lives riddled with gun violence, drug dealing, bling, Bentleys and harems of mindless female sex toys.

I refuse to believe that children who are constantly exposed to these images aren’t negatively affected. What message is being communicated to our children when “pimps” are glorified and the term is used to describe making things better, as in “pimping out” someone’s car, for example? Too few videos depict aspiring college students, model teachers or industrious auto mechanics.

A new study indicates daytime music video programming markets adult-themed content to children at alarming rates. Children were exposed to adult content every 38 seconds through some programs, the study found.

No other group of people in this country would allow their young women to portrayed or exploited as black women are. Listen to the music, watch the videos this is not tolerated in any other community but ours.

This is just not a Black epidemic, but a American epidemic because young whites buy the majority of this filth that is being produced.

Seems so. Of course it's profit driven. But the music itself is not created by the suits. They didn't invent it. They sure as hell profit off it though. Oddly, those same people would never let their own kids listen to it.

Wow! Did I just agree with an SBB post? ...amazing.

I do agree with Stek as well. "White people" didn't create gangsta rap. They just found a way to make a buck off it. Currently (well...in St Louis, anyway) most of the kids who listen to that krap are white urban males. It's uncommon to hear it in all-black high schools. It seems the blacks have finally moved away from it, and that's a step in the right direction.

It's not "whiteys" fault, but whitey is the one marketing this (*)(*)(*)(*) to our countries children and making them think its cool to act like retarded gang bangers.

I see people talk a lot about the violence and negative behavior portrayed in rap, but no one ever talks about terrible messages in other types of music.

It didn't used to be created by the suits; but after the golden era of rap--the 80s and 90s--the suits hijacked, created, and patented a formulaic form of bull(*)(*)(*)(*) gangsta rap that they package and sell to mostly middle-class, suburban white teens. For example, Lil' Wayne--he doesn't even write his own rhymes. He has a squad of producers who make catchy beats, and an army of marketing strategists that portray him as a "gangsta" from the "hood." He's actually just a tool.
